we are dehydrating chicken and Okra (ladies fingers) a vegetable, and we are going to determine the energy produced using a bomb calorimeter. Is there a better way to do this, and how do we come up with a hypothesis?? please help our teacher sux!

I think using a bomb calorimeter is as close as you can get on determining accurate calorie content. Getting calorie readings is always difficult. There is simply no easy way to get them. As for hypothesis and calculation, this site looks helpful:
