According to fundamentalists, God is a ruler who allows torture on a massive scale, punishment out of all proportion to the crime, and punishment for the crimes of another (like the Nazis once did). Any human ruler who indulged in such things would probably be condemned by the UN, removed and put on trial for crimes against humanity. If God's behavior is worse than what we would accept from a human ruler, why do people worship Him? It is because He has all the power?

In answer to one of the answerers, if my children were rebelling against my control, I might get a bit annoyed but I wouldn't throw them in the fire, or leave them there if they fell in. Apparently God would, though. So am I better than God? If so, why would I want to worship Him?

good question...

it is not God who do the crime and torture... it's human, do you see?
God has sent his men but human didn't believe and didnt listen, they are busy talking and questioning... but when the answers come they didnt listen and didnt believe...

he is worshipped because he is worthy to be worshipped... are you worthy to get respect from your children? they should respect you, if not... they are rebelling!

true he has all the power, but he doesnt use it to take over us, instead to save you and me from eternal death... if you believe my friend... you'll dont need this question...

God respects the human will so much that he will, as you said, ALLOW these things to happen and let human beings be. Does God do these astrocities? Definitely NO, humans act against humans - and your logic says, let us despise God 'cause he allows us to kill ourselves...very good way of thinking.

If God had a flaw, it would be nothing more than trusting YOU too much.

Paul, who told you those things?
If you have worked it out from what priests and pastors have taught, then you must realise they are teaching the wrong things.
A simple question here. Can the U.N. bring a person back to life, once definitely dead?
If so, they might be worth listening to.
But we know they cannot.
But we do know, from the Bible, that Jesus, with his Father's help, DID bring lazarus back to life.
When Jehovah God [ Jesus' Father in heaven...Jesus is NOT God] gave Jesus this ability, it was also given to the apostles. All the accounts are clear in the Bible.
When Jehovah punished, it was deserved. Because of disobedience, Adam and Eve eventually died. [Genesis 2; 16,17.
He punishe the disobedient Israelites by having them carried off as slaves to Babylon for 70 years.
Then He helped bring them back to Jerusalem by having them set free by Cyrus.
Conquest of Babylon. Cyrus now girded for a confrontation with mighty Babylon, and from this point forward, in particular, he figured in the fulfillment of Bible prophecy. In Isaiah’s inspired restoration prophecy concerning Jerusalem and its temple, this Persian ruler had been named as the one appointed by Jehovah God to effect the overthrow of Babylon and the release of the Jews who would be exiled there. (Isa 44:26–45:7) Although this prophecy had been recorded well over one and a half centuries before Cyrus’ rise to power and though the desolation of Judah evidently took place before Cyrus was even born, still Jehovah declared that Cyrus would act as His “shepherd” on behalf of the Jewish people. (Isa 44:28; compare Ro 4:17.) By virtue of this advance appointment, Cyrus was called Jehovah’s “anointed one” (a form of the Hebrew ma·shi′ach, messiah, and the Greek khri·stos′, christ). (Isa 45:1) God’s ‘calling him by his name’ (Isa 45:4) at that early date does not imply that He gave Cyrus his name at birth, but means that Jehovah foreknew that such a man by that name would arise and that Jehovah’s call to him would be, not anonymous, but direct, specific, by name.

We are like children to Jehovah. When we are naughty, He punishes. when we are good, He rewards.

the final reward is;
(Revelation 21:4) And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

(Psalm 37:9) For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.

(Psalm 37:11) But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

Do you think God allows torture? Do you ever read the bible? i think it will be usefull for you to read the bible. it will really help you. UN has no right to condemned God, God is the most POWERFUL, HE is the Creator, so we must respect Him. And one thing, don't you know why people worship him? it's because God is the one who helps them and who is with them as they journey in this challenging world. I hope God will enlighten you. I also hope this helps.....

condemning god would be acknowledging that he exists. Since there is no god, he can't be condemned. The UN could condemn religion though. That would be a good thing.

I don't believe this as we have free will and determine our fate. I would definitely restructure the U.N. since it can't handle the Darfur situation along with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Armenian-Azerbaijani dispute over Nagorno-Karabakh, Kosovo and Chechnya.

Man cannot condemn God. God is holy, we are not. What would they do to Him? He is ruler, creator, and soverign over all. When you die and have to face God, are you going to accuse Him? He is the final judge, not man.

You're absolutely right!

God is the reason of existence of genocide, mass murders and history full of blood ever since the origin of monotheistic religions.

A true God would not do these things. If he exists, he must just have a strong feeling in personal freedom! Let's not pointlessly offend... join us all in a ring of fellowship!

No because God (indirectly by being the creator of everything) helped create the UN in the first place, and he wouldn't have his own creations condemn him.
