I was a sentry dog handler for the Air Force in Vietnam. One night, on my post at the end of the tactical runway, Duke, my dog, hit an alert. We followed it out and came up on two Viet Cong trying to hide from us. They were a "sapper team", enemy soldiers who planted bobby traps and bombs. As Duke and I approached I could see one of the men start to move his rifle in my direction. I turned Duke loose. I don't think the guy ever saw the dog until it was on him. Duke was solid black and it was at night. Duke nailed him on the upper arm and the guy just screamed. The other guy jumped up with his rifle and was going to shoot my dog. I fired a burst from my M-16 and he went down. The other guy had gotten to his feet and was trying to bring his rifle to bear on Duke. I had to step closer to avoid hitting my own dog and fired another burst into him at almost point blank range.
After all the excitement died down, I found I had fired 16 rounds out of my M-16. Five of the rounds were in the chest and neck of the first guy and eight were in the chest of the guy fighting with my dog. Duke (a German Shepard), by the way, had torn a six inch hunk of meat of the upper arm of his guy and he was working on the fellow's leg when I shot the guy.
I came away from this with a whole lot more respect for my rifle and the 5.56mm round.

No, but here's how close I came to killing my brother when we were young.
My father kept a sporterized British Enfield .303 in his closet. One day my brother Mike and I were in his room and I found the rifle and took it out of the closet. Just joking around, I aimed it right at my brother's chest. maybe only three feet away, and could easily have pulled the trigger...I really don't know why I didn't...but thank God I didn't...when I pulled back on the bolt and opened the breech there was a live round inside waiting to be fired.
I will never forget that moment when in an instant both of our lives could have been changed forever.

Never shot someone, but I did catch a fragment from a .357 in my.....ah, wallet area.
I was working a security detail in New Orleans during Mardi Gras years ago when I heard gunfire a short distance away and ran to the scene to find one guy on the ground and two police officers wrestling a small pistol from a guy.
As I stood there heard a loud shot ring out. It seems a rookie police officer had drawn her service revolver on the scene and when the other cops had the situation under control she went to reholster her weapon...... and that's when she fired it, into the concrete just a few yards behind me.
The round, a jacketed hollow point, split into a few pieces and one wound up in me right under my wallet.
Luckily, it was a shallow wound, but it was uncomfortably close to what I consider to be a "vital region" if you catch my drift.
OLD FUZZ, thanks for your service to America!

Nope. Just a few dozen innocent paper Target-men! I like to practice at the firing range, but have never had to shoot anyone. The practice is because we own guns, and I believe I should at least know how to use them. I practice both right and left handed too.
ps. sorry about your buddy. Hope you are still friends :)

No i might want to no longer, and no man or woman else might want to both, lengthy lengthy previous are the days the position human beings favor to seek to live to inform the tale. so a recommendations as i'm in contact killing animals for no good reason is purely homicide and could no longer be seen a pastime. the purely way i'd shoot an animal will be if it were attempting to kill me.

I have been shot in the lower back with an arrow, and I have used my gun many times, but, fortunately, have not had to shoot anyone yet.

Oh my gosh. That probably had you upset for quite a while. The only time I handle or shoot a gun is at the rifle range.

Yes, I have. I once had a P.I. licensce. I shoot only in self-defense. It can be me or the aggressor. That is an easy choice.
