ok i was looking through sme of my old answeres and came across an answere on a page. It was "
They are the product of cowhide after it has been boiled and bleached. You must limit your dog's ingestion of these products as they are not easily digestible and can build-up/clog his/her intestines. One rawhide a week is safe. If you happen to have a pitbull, feed it lots, the world needs less of them. " I personally own a pitbull, i was told he was a mix and looked like a pit. (he is in my pic window) but found out he was a pit at the vets office. I dont understand how people can say PITs are bad dogs, first off my pitty is a good boy, lovable and a big baby. I honestly think people should realize that any dog can be mean and agressive, if you dont treat them right. . Dont punish the breed punish the deed. How many of you think that is unfair to sterotype a dog becuase of a few people that have abused, and teached thier dog to fight, to be agressive? I dont agree at all with this.

People will discriminate about anything! As long as there is something that they can put down to make themselves sound or feel superior.
People discriminate against people that are not of the same color as themselves..People that are overweight. People that are not as smart. People that are old, or teens..People of a different political party..or a different religion..You name it..People discriminate.
No, it isn't fair, but if you allow it to get you down, then the jerks will have won..
I have Arabian horses..Most of our light-legged breeds are derived from the Arabians...But! You should hear the rude remarks that I get from breeders/owners of Quarter horses!!! As if quarter horses didn't have a lot of Arab in their heritage..
Geeesh! People just love to discriminate!!!

What a cutie!
I agree with you and I hope the fool that posted that answer ends up with an intestinal blockage themself.
People are too quick to judge and most have nothing to go by but what they've read in the newspapers or from others.
There are 2 sides to EVERY story.I've yet to hear the dogs side.
Pits need alot of exercise and just as much mental stimulation if not more.Which is why I'll never own one.I'm too old to keep up with one.But I think they're awesome dogs.I've had several here on a regular basis to play with my gsds.Granted I've had to keep a close eye on all the dogs to make certain play did'nt get out of hand but I would'nt put any dog in my yard unsupervised with my boys. They can get pretty rowdy at times by themselves.
And next time someone makes an ignorant, judgemental statement about any breed just politely say to them "And I suppose what happened to the Jews in Germany was alright with you too."

I grew up with many dogs, including purebred showdogs, purebred lap dogs, and rescued mutts. The pit bull (all three breeds this commonly refers to and all mixes) is my favorite dog. My mother worked in a shelter and dealt with a lot of dog fighting issues. Nothing makes you realize how special these dogs are, how great their capacity for love and gentleness is, until you see a dog that has been tortured in dog fights act like it never happened. I don't think many other types of dogs could bounce back from such treatment the way pit bulls can.
The same temperment traits that make them excellent fighters (devotion to their master at all cost, high trainability, and intellegence) make them the best of family pets. I know I may take a lot of flack for this but if I were going to have a young child, a pit bull is one of the few dogs I would want to have around. People need to learn that human aggression, which has systematically been bred OUT of pits, is very different from dog aggression.
The bottom line is that this type of discrimination is nothing new. It used to be dobermans, rottweilers, and German shepards. Now it's pit bulls. Unfortunately, Breed Specific Legislation has come along and is making it VERY difficult for pit bull owners in a lot of areas. Legislators don't realize that the people who fight dogs, refuse to train their pets, and let them run loose do not respect the law. BSL only hurts responsible families and pet owners.
I'll get off my soapbox now, but the reality of the situation is that pit bulls are great animals but unfortunately often find themselves in the worst situations.
FYI - You CAN get homeowners insurance!! State Farm will insure pit bull owners, and be sure to let them know that is why you are choosing their service.

damn straight! i work in a pet store and i know so many pit bull owners who adore their pitties. in Australia there are a how pile of laws in place now to "control" pit bulls. part of it is proper fencing which i see the need for but surely there are other breeds that also require this eg cattle dogs. they are also some horrible ones like cage muzzles having to be worn all the time and a 3m by 3m cage is also require.
i think its ridiculous that these laws have been applied to this one breed when there have been many other reports of dog attacks from other breeds.
at the end of the day its NOT the breed it's the owners, the breed attracts a stereotype that some very stupid people want so they get these poor dogs and teach they to be the stereotypical viscous dogs.
we should be better policing owners of all dog breeds not just one!

I 100% agree with you. I have yet to meet a pit that was aggressive at all and I work in a vet's office. They are probably the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet, they just get a bad rep because of how people have trained their dogs in the past. Any breed of dog will be aggressive if they are brought up wrong or treated badly. I personally would think it would be awesome to own a pit because they truly are good dogs they just have a bad reputation.

from the picture i think your dog looks more like a staffy, but anyway...i agree with you. There is no such thing as a bad dog, only bad owners. Any dog can be made savage by poor treatment, lack of training and neglect.

Personaly, I love all dogs, pits included. I have met a pit bull who wouldn't have hurt me or anyone else, but a cocker spaniel who tried to kill everything near it. I completely agree with you. I would have a pit bull myself, if my landlord would allow me, but he believes all the stereotypes. Kepp up the fight to change the stereotype!
Good luck and best wishes.

And sorry to say that you can not get home owners insurance due to the stigma of pit bulls and rottweilers. Sad but true.

initially, celebrities are genuine human beings. They have been each and every conceived and born an identical way you and that i've got been, and that they'll die basically such as you and that i'll. I see you're no longer shy approximately sharing your opinion with us, making use of this platform of Yahoo! solutions. properly, neither are many celebrities. i've got confidence that in case you have been a well-liked actress, author, flesh presser, daughter of a flesh presser, et al, you does not hesitate to share your opinion with something of the worldwide! My sister is a doctor. Does that advise her opinion counts greater suitable than yours or mine? Addendum: BTW, Lizzie, you have a double familiar. you think you're unfastened to criticize celebrities, yet while somebody disagrees with you, you call their comments "impolite" and you assert you do no longer elect to hearken to it! it is not which you do no longer elect to hearken to from celebrities. you in basic terms do no longer elect to hearken to from celebrities--or trouble-free persons--who think of in any different case from you.
