Hi,

Limewire by itself may be legal, but downloading unlicensed stuff from Limewire is illegal. Most of the stuff that is available on Limewire (music, movies and games) are pirated.

Limewire is also ridden with virus files. You can get severely infected if you are not careful about downloading the right files.

I would recommend that you stay away from such programs. Don't get into troulbe. If you want music or movies, just buy them!

Limewire is not 1% illegal but downloading LimeWire's contents such as; Music, Videos, Programs, and Document, Are illegal and yes, some files have virus's but dont worry about which files have and dont have virus's if u have a good program to manage the virus's. McAfee, Norton, Spybot, are good programs for finding and getting rid of the nasty virus's. McAfee is my personal favorite. I run LimeWire on ym computer. my computer is cleaner then ever. Very Few Music and Video files have virus's. 1 out of 200 will probly have one. Very unlikly. Now Morpheus is a good program to but limeiwre in some cases, is better. Thank You. Hope i help a little.

Seems like this question gets asked quite often. Search of "Is Limewire Illegal" was found 831 times (see that search box above?)

However, as you're obviously too [beep] to search for yourself, I'll just repeat my answer.

Limewire itself is not illegal. However, 99% of the users use it to perform illegal activity, namely, to violate other people's copyright by "sharing" copyrighted material.

As for risks, ANY TIME you download stuff from complete strangers, you run risk of getting malware. It's like inviting strangers home for parties. They may be nice, they may leave your house a complete mess.

If you download videos or music, you may get fakes. If are searching for female related videos, you may get gay porn instead (just an example). If you download software, you may get virus and/or other malware instead). Even if it's not a fake, it could be corrupted, thus you spent X hours downloading nothing.

You just NEVER KNOW what you'll actually get until the download finishes and gets scanned by your antivirus or whatever.

And RIAA/MIAA may just come after you.

Personally, it's not worth the time or the potential headache.

It is legal actually .... but the content you download are illegal...
because about 90% of them are illegal and most of them contain virus that can really destroy your computer..

A tips for my experience , don't download the stuff that are too small size as most of them a FAKE one...If search movie , it's impposible for you to download a movie with 100 kb file size ...right ?
( for example , 300 Mb - 1500 Mb file size may be real for a movie)

.......So , download bigger file size maybe 'real' ...haha

For virus free useage, DON'T download PROGRAM... Other things like Audio/Video are fine... I never encounter virus from others except PROGRAM...
