Of course you have to put Mr. Brunson as number 1. He has 10 wsop bracelets, and is one of the pioneers of hold'em. 2nd has to be Johnny Chan, he also has 10 wsop bracelets, and back to back main event wins. And last would have to be Stu Unger, if he had lived he would have been the greatest no limit hold'em player ever.

This is a hard one, there are some great Blackjack players out there if you follow that. I believe I have to give my 3 greatest to Texas Hold'em players though, since that game requires more skill and cunning than most other poker games.

I can rate the 3 best by credentials, That would be easy, Brunson, Hellmuth, and Chan, all with 10 Bracelets each. but awards alone can't judge the "best" I think.

My best 3 poker players ever are

Doyle Brunson- Best all around player, this guy should be on everyones list.

Daniel Negreanu- He seems to know what his opponent is holding 90% of the time. He has great instincts, and is one of the best cash game players in a long time. I believe his better than Phil Ivy at cash game because of his ability to tell what others are holding.

Jennifer Harman- A lot of people always wonder why I say Jennifer, and to me, it's simple. She can play all the games in Hold'em, has 2 bracelets, which is a feat in it's own right these days, and she is by far the best women player. She has also gone through a lot of things outside of poker, which make her a strong person.

Those are my picks, though there are a lot of good poker players out there.

Wow that's a broad question. The link below brings up some questions about your question, but not many answers. Chan is the second to go back to back. Helmuth is the all time bracelet winner. I have see Nugyen play in person several times and he has had very consistent success, but only has 2 bracelets. Negraneau is the all time WPT cash winner but has never had a main event title. If I could go away from your list for a bit I would go with Doyle Brunson. He has won the WSOP main event 2 times has a WPT title, Has written the "bible" of poker and topped that with a second book that goes into tournament strategy like no one else has.Now that I have muddied the waters, Ill get back to your list. Ill have to go with hellmuth only because he is the all time money earner in the world series, has 11 bracelets (not just hold em) has shown great success in cash play, and in his own way become very active in spreading poker around the globe. A side note. I don't care for him from what i see on TV. He might be totally different off the table but all I know is what I see. I hope I'm wrong.

3? tough to say.

-Doyle Brunson: Legend of poker, help to put poker where it is now. 72 years old, play the biggest game in the world. And have 10 bracelets.

-Phil Ivey: Won 5 bracelet before his 30. Play the biggest cash games in the world. D. Brunson considere him the best in the world (for the young gun)

-Daniel Negreanu: 3 bracelets, play the big games, made 23 final table in past 4 years (wpt, wsop)

Only 3 names......it's not enough, but that's my pick even if many other name come to my mind. By the way that's why I chose them too (for your other question) to play against heads-up.

Take care

Chip reese is the best 7 card stud player ...period.

Doyle Brunson, David Sklansky and Johnny Chan are great known players, but the best players Ive ever seen dont play tournaments that much. In round table action, Bruce Migdall,
Jimmy Jimmy, Ricky Bell are some of the best I've ever seen.

1. chip reese...he's probably made more money playing poker than anyone in history

2. doyle brunson...the consummate legend, a class act and obviously one of the best ever

3. phil ivey...will be the greatest in history when he's done playing

there are also other players, like johnny chan and daniel negreanu, that i'd like to put on here but i can only pick 3, so there they are
