Yesterday i was playing basketball and i jumped up to get the ball but then i came down and fell on my arm. after the game my arm started hurting real bad....it was pretty hard to move..i dont' think its broken because i'm not in any extreme pain but it is getting on my nerves a bit. i can move it up and down but i can't straighten it out.....i don't know why...i don't want this to be permanet or anything......i used icyhot and pain medicine but nothing seems to be helping......

what should i do

I would go get it checked, just because it doesnt hurt doesnt mean its not broken. I broke my humerus a year ago with a spiral fracture, into 2 pieces, even though i KNEW it was broke without a doubt, it honestly did not hurt much. Maybe I can take pain pretty decent but I didnt even shed a tear. Go get it looked at just to be safe. I also agree with the guy above, I never have recovered financially from being off of work for 5 months and I still havent gotten back to my old strength and I doubt i ever will. You dont want to mess around. get it looked at asap.

You probably tore your muscle. Since it's been a while since you last worked out it will take your muscle longer than someone who works out frequently to heal. Just rest [no more lifting weights]. In a couple days it'll stop hurting.

you may have hurt some nerve. just like what you get when your finger hits the ball... it won't be permanent.. you'll just have to stretch it slowly everytime.. then stretch it a little more if it doesn't hurt a lot and more... but slowly.. don't force it.. then try turning your arm around slowly... keep on streching it or ask someone to slowly pull your arm... keep doing this for 2-3 days and if it still hurts, you may have to ask a doctor..

You may need xrays to make sure it is not fractured. The fact that it is just annoying may not mean it's not seriously injured. Look at Dwayne Wade he played and he needs surgery. Go to the doc just in case you have something seriously wrong. Good Luck

Get to a doc, get x rays, ice it, and try to keep it moving.

Seven years ago I had a funny bone injury that took eight months for me to be able to get back to work, then re injury happened ten months later and I was out for two years. Financially I never recovered, and I was never able to get my income back up to where it was before.

Good luck

You need to go get it looked at. Go to urgent care and get this checked out before you wind up damaging it further.
