The universe would not exist without God’s sustaining and controlling activity, whether we want to believe it or not.

An absolute freedom, totally free of God’s control, is simply not possible in a world providentially sustained and directed by God himself.

Its your definition of god, most of us consider god as a living person who watches above us all from heaven, sort of like a super hero figure. This is basically the concept in Abrahamic religions as I see it.And it is a good concept, there is nothing wrong with having a personified god,in fact the Universe(s) would be much different if we saw god as a inconscious, eternal force,I mean sure we would know there is a god,but then,is there god in a form which humans can relate to,with our puny little brains. We Hindus call the form humans envision param Brahman.God personified into a being, something we humans (and other beings in the Universe) can look up to.

So these are the two aspects of god.If you have the personified form of god gone, this fullfils the Athiestic view,of god not being a personified being, however if the eternal reality did not make a form which we living beings (from god's energy of course) cannot relate to,the world would be a meaningless and cold place. But it is possible for life to exist without this concept of god.The concept in which god is a visual celestial enetity,Christ,Krishna,Vishnu,Allah etc. This is because Brahman (what we Hindus call the supreme energy, the eternal truth) is still there, the force of reality is still there, this is where even Athiests have to agree,at this point god is not an idea, but absolute fact (however a lot of us consider praram Brahman absolute fact, well in my opinion param brahman is absolute fact). In this concept of god being the eternal, the creator of reality, the energy and consciousness, the eternal source and existence, even reality cannot exist without reality right? And there has to be a supreme energy,so even if we try to think of the eternal energy (god) as inexistent, then there is no possible way that we could exist, then everything is inexistent, but this eternal form is so complex that even inexistence has to have a source.

Sorry my head hurts thinking about this to.Its pretty much the best way I can explain it.

Of course, since there are *none*. And a billion or so people realize this. Here's some percentages of Atheism for certain countries: Vietnam – 81%, Sweden - ~65%, Denmark – ~65%, Norway – ~64%, Japan – ~65%, the Czech Republic – ~58%, Finland – ~51%, and so on. China has ~150,000,000 atheists, while Russia has ~44,000,000, Germany has ~36,000,000, France has ~28,000,000, the U.K. has ~22,000,000 and even little Canada has ~8,000,000 atheists (many more of course). And there are up to 26,000,000 atheists in the States.

No, because in Him we live, and move and have our being. You can think people are living without God, perhaps, in their minds or hearts, but without God, nothing is brought into existence. One can die without God, not a good thing.

Only for people that don't need a book to tell them how to think and act. It sounds like I'm being insulting but it's true. Many people would not be moral at all if weren't for the thought of an all seeing ever-present security system watching them at all times.

We're all doing it, some of us just don't realize it.

Nobody can prove any gods, much less a specific god, exist; many people will tell you their god exists but no others, but will never be able to prove it, even if they think so. Some will threaten you with eternal pain or promise eternal joy to get you to believe in their god; these are all stories, created for people who were scared long before we understood the universe. Now we have no more reason for these superstitions.

Okay, before I begin my little diatribe let me state I am a Christian, but not the kind you are all familiar with. I know all you non-believers have this one sided view of what a Christian is, that we are somehow deluded, fooled into believing only mythology an legends, that we are weak minded and can’t think for ourselves. The sad thing is I used to waste my time in the attacking of others beliefs, my behavior was very similar to a drug addict, wanting all my friends to join in my belief system, so that I wouldn’t feel as convicted of my own decrepit actions. I eventually woke up, & I decided that no matter what another’s religious belief, sexual preference, race, height or weight is, it is not at all wise to inflict your own personal values on the rest of humanity.

Yes a lot of so-called Christians do this very thing, passing judgment, trying to regulate other people’s thoughts and actions within communities. But believe it or not there are a whole lot of Christians just like me, the kind of Christian that is only saddened by these jackasses who posted before me. Not because you’re attempting to sway others away from believing in Christ, but instead that your wasting so much time & energy on trying to convince others of your own personal beliefs, ultimately becoming a backward parody of a so called overzealous Christian that you all seem to hold so much animosity towards.

Hello to the narrow minded? Your rhetoric is changing absolutely nothing, nor is it improving anyone’s quality of life. I challenge you to apply this same time an energy into maybe doing something that is really significant. Please explain to me what is so dangerous, or unsettling about a child saying a harmless prayer in school. How is it these topics are even worthy of seeing a supreme court? Why is it that you all have the time & energy to bring such trivial subjects before the courts? When clearly all the really important issues this country needs to address are, hunger, poverty, aids, poor education system, global warming, an ongoing war on terrorism, these only touch on a few of the important issues of our times. It is my firm belief we Americans have far to much free time on our hands, this must be the case when time after time we ask the Government to delegate a issue that clearly is not really a issue at all. We need to learn a bit of tolerance for others, I am forever mystified by what people get unsettled about, & this statement includes all race & creed, all beliefs. I personally have no problem with a community/country, sharing their beliefs, art, and music, no matter its subject matter. But time & time again I see morons going on some kind of crusade to eliminate something that has some kind of purpose to either a religious, or ethnic group.

Before you all want to tar an feather me a far right, Christian soldier, let me repeat this, I am not a cookie cut out of your weak *** blueprint of what most Christians are these days. Yes Christ taught us all to be pacifist, to turn the other check, & in turn ultimately subjecting us to be targeted the most. Why you ask? Because we will take it, over an over again we take your silly bullshit. Other groups actually get up in arms, actually fight back, & pay no heed to turn the other cheek, to sum it all up, they don’t eat your sh*t. You atheist seem to have this idea that the moral majority of Christians in this country are like TV evangelist, or the extreme bible thumping maniacs that are shown on TV reality shows. That we are all frothing at the mouth with scriptures, & parables at hand, waiting to redeem a helpless sinner. Sadly instead the moral majority of Christians are only guilty of being human, struggling daily with all the worlds’ temptations. On a relativity good day believing that maybe we are more than mere flesh and bone, while on bad days maybe unsure of a higher deity at all, instead feeling utterly alone. Christians behave no different than anyone else, we go to the bathroom, we curse, we gossip, we pull our pants up & down the same as the rest of you. And yet atheist, & agnostics, put us up on some kind of pedestal, like we should be held to a higher level of responsibility for our beliefs. I believe in God, just as I believe I will have to pay taxes again this year, and that doesn’t make me any less human.
