It's not good to carry pride in one's language too far. It is good to feel proud of our own language, culture and tradition. But we must also respect other linguistic minorities. We should give due recognition and respect to language and culture of minority groups and communities. "Linguistic Chauvinism" is having an absurdly extravagant pride in one's language. Germany of Bismarck reflected that pride. Germany captured the two French districts of Alsace and Lorraine. German "Linguistic Chauvinism" was reflected when it imposed German language on the dominantly French population of Alsace and Lorraine.

Linguistic chauvinism is the belief that one's language is superior to all others. Unfortunately, one of the negative by-products of this linguistic centrism is the unwillingness to allow the language to develop and incorporate new vocabulary into it's core. French is a great example = the French government is affraid that foreign words, especially popular cultural words from English, will corrupt and compromise the integrity of the French language. However, a language which does not expand, shift and develop will eventually die out. Latin is a perfect example of linguistic obsolescence/death due to linguistic xenophobism.

The French are famous for their extreme pride in their language.
