This is opinion only, of course.

1) The costs are virtually negligible to our "statesmen, so no risk politically.

2) Many people are affected, and it is polically popular to have cheap giveaways, so there will be little resistance to extending it.

3) Result: extension. You may have heard that once the camel's nose is under the tent flap, he will be in soon? This one has all the momentum of an elephant-sized camel, my opinion. Actually, I think it is in the best interest of us all; cheap tax cost, large payoff in the free economy.

That will be up to Congress. If they don't act to extend it, 2007 will be a one-time good deal.
