Depends on your criteria. Blogbaba has chosen the "who beats who" way. By that criteria I'd say Bob Foster. Overall(achievements, quality of opposition) I'd say Ezzard Charles. He beat Archie Moore THREE times, once by knockout. He also beat Moore's conqueror Charley Burley twice. He beat two of the greatest contenders of all time in Lloyd Marshall(twice) and Jimmy Bivins(3 times). Thrashed Joey Maxim several times as well.
Hard to beat that.

The blogbaba is going to catch a lot of flak for this one, Archie Moore is an all time great that I have nothing but respect for, and Bob Foster is just as respected, either could easily be considered the best light-heavyweight in history.
I think if either met Michael Moorer at 175, Mike would have knocked out both hall of famers, albeit the old mongoose would have probably shook Moorer a couple of times before being KOed. Roy Jones junior wouldn't have lasted three rounds with Moorer. At 175 Mike was the most dangerous puncher the light heavys ever saw, bar none.
The blogbaba went out on a limb with this one, but sometimes you gotta go with your gut.
Michael Moorer was the best light heavyweight of all time, and the only southpaw heavyweight champ as well.

This is a no brainer - Roy Jones Junior .
First of all , out of all the other fighters mentioned, not 1 had the combination of speed and power that RJJ bought to the ring. Whoever that was that said Roy wouldn't last a round with Michael Moorer is out of his mind, Roy would have hit him(hard) 10 times before he knew what happened.
There has not been a better body puncher since, and his hand speed was unearthly.
I think the only thing that ended up beating him was himself.
His last 7 or so fights you could tell he was bored with it, and by the time he started getting the desire back he lost a couple of steps. Getting hit with shots he used too easily slip and counter. But in his prime there was no one better.

In rating the greatest light-heavyweight of all-time, I'd rank Bob Foster and Archie Moore as the top two. Bob Foster was a great boxer and he was very talented. Though Moore only had a power advantage over Foster, I'd still rank Moore as the top fighter in the history of the division. I rank him to be the greatest mainly because of his longevity in the sport.

The top two are Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore. There are some other great ones who deserve consideration though, such as Michael Spinks, Bob Foster, Gene Tunney, Roy Jones, etc.

Michael Spinks. He dominated during an era of great light-heavies and was the division's undisputed champion for many years. Of course, we all know that he went on to become heavyweight champion. Roy Jones comes a close second.

Hmmmm, too close to to call, LOL. i will in no way make an apology for regulation and order. even with the AP and IRS scandals this remains a united states of america of rules, on stability (no longer that ability would not get abused sometimes). the actuality that they have got been reported is an illustration that the gadget nevertheless works.
