I visited a mini mall yesterday to get my license plate sticker, and upon returning to my car to leave, an attractive young woman standing outside one of the other businesses smiled and asked me if my name was " Owen ". Caught completely off guard, I simply said " no " and got back in my car. As soon as I did so, I realized that if I'd have said something like, " No, but I'd be glad to change my name just so you won't have to look any further ", it might've lead to a conversation and a possible date. The troubling part is, I always do this. I can never think of anything smooth to say until later when the pressure's off and it's too late. Geez, I could just kick myself! Can anyone help?

Prepare a little something to say ahead of time. Dont practice too much, you want to be natural. But usually girls appreciate a compliment and a guy just being themselves over quick flirty type comments. You could have said something like...."no, my name is ___ and you look beautiful today. Can I give you a call sometime?" Hope this helps! Good LUck

Ha ha! That is something I would have done, too! Just kept walking without a clue!

Sounds like you're a nice, sincere guy. And nice, sincere guys don't use lines to attract girls; charmers use those. And although, admittedly, girls like the charming guys, they are also aware that those kind of guys probably use those lines on all women. They cast a wide net with come-ons and see what they can land.

Women do respond to nice guys, especially if they've had a few run-ins with the charmers. Keep true to yourself and mean what you say. That will take you farther in the long run. But next time, take a moment and answer. Just don't try to be too clever or you might trip over your tongue.

Then don't wait until the pressure's on.

When you are at home in front of the computer (or TV) and have nothing else to do, try thinking of common situations where you might meet women (and screw up) and try to write down what you would do or say for each situation. At least write down a default thing to say if you don't know what else to say. Maybe you could run them past a female friend to see what she thinks of your ideas.

That way, you are prepared for the next time when you (eventually) run into someone that you would like to meet. If you fail to prepare, then you prepare to fail.

Best advice I ever got was to expect nothing, but expect the unexpected. If you are out looking for something, it will never happen, but when you are out just going about your business, you have to be ready. The key to success is being ready when opportunity knocks!

Don't worry, **** like that happens. You needn't worry, most guys pick up women slowly anyways, like via a lasting relationship as co-workers or students. Anyways, same stuff happens to me, I wanna hit myself, but you can't kill yourself over it.

Next time get out of your car and go back in. She was definitely checking you out, she wanted to stop you.

try to go through all the possible scenarios and then think of replies to say to them. or you could find something to say that you could say to almost anything without being lame or creepy.
