You are space, time leaves evidence of how it has led to where its at

The thing passes befor the sun but does not make no shadow.
Evidence, leave anything behind= the shadow
Obect= Time

with the shadow and the source of the object that is creating the light to emit shadows you can find out time.

Even without the source you can probably still find out time just with the shadow alone by the direction it moves and the speed it moves. Also A shadow which can visually be used to visually find out time, space is not physically detectablet. because even in space as it seems empty it is really being filled up with matter and other things we cannot use with our own naked eye. we have to use other technologies like x ray and what not or thermal vision when looking at space.

But space never leaves anything behind because it is together and is always expanding. although it is there, you cannot feel, smell or physicaly see space and space never leaves a shadow because space purely is purely empty. It is virtually invisible in almost every aspect possible for our physical detection. everything else fills up space and uses space which is matter. And space has been there even before time. Because without space there is no time. Because time is really space being curved. Finding matter is probably the only of detecting space but even matter is so complicated. Certain types of matter are visible. And also there is a new found matter type i think its called dark matter. Matter uses space, and light is made of matter but space its self purely is empty. Also as time moves on it leaves another realm left behind.

Also the moon does emmit light, without the moon it would be impossible too see in the dark when the sun sets and we had no electronics. This means that if they produce light they produce some shadow also, but the shadows are not as easy to see from the moon as the sun.

Also fire emmit lights there and does cast shadows.

Another possibility can be that you are just plain air.
Although some types of air/gas do leave shadows.
Like steam and if you get clouds they leave shadows.
