When one man has an imagianary friend, he's called crazy. When many people have the same imaginary friend it's called religion.

No, I think religion exists because of our mortality. We are helpless in this regard, so we need something, even if we must willingly suspend disbelief, to assure us that nobody really "dies" - they just go to a better place. Interestingly, not all world religions think that life is so great that they want to keep on keeping on. Eastern thought has it that the big goal is to get OFF the wheel of life so you don't have to keep coming back to learn the hard, cruel lessons of living.

As long as you are posting hypotheticals here, I wonder what it would be like if we all knew, without a doubt, that this is the only shot you have at life in all of infinity . . .? I think not only would you value THIS life much, much more, but I think the rest of the world would also value each and every living thing, since it will never be here again. The irony is that, in my opinion, this is no hypothetical.

Well first I think that after a few people dropped to the ground, we would figure it out rather fast. Everything else goes from there.

Religion serves may purposes. Some of the early Jews did not believe in life after death and they still had a religion. It is about finding truth, and answers to the mysteries that we see around us. And to some extent to have a 'sense' of control over events.

Death is only one of the problems religion addresses. There's still the problems of being (Both how and why are we here), the problems of inequality (Why is he wealthy and mean while I'm poor and good?), the problems of the unknown (What is that noise coming from the woods?), and the problems of destination, as even if we don't die, we're going to end up somewhere.

Not to mention, if we didn't die reproduction would probably have to be disabled, or else we'd be overflowing with people in no time. And then I personally would need to ask god why I can't have sex anymore.

Adam anad Eve were never meant to die. When God created them, death was not in the equation. But, when sin entered into the relationship, between (man) Adam and Eve, God could no longer be with them as sin set them (us) apart from Him.

As a result, death is meant as an enemy and there is a scripture that says it all... " The wages of sin is death!"

So, you see, this scenario has already occured and God was very much apart of their lives....religion?

By the way, there is a huge difference between religion and realationship with God. There are many who are "religious" but, not all are Christians!

It's always surprising to see how many people miss the concept of great questions like this one. Religion exists for the sole purpose of believing that death can be averted. Take death out of the equation and religion will perish.

Religion is not necessarily theistic. Humanism can be considered a religion, for example.

But as for what I'm sure you MEANT to ask...yes, it would still exist. There will always be people who deny even the most obvious things--there are still people out there who think Elvis is alive, and who thing the moon landing was a hoax, and so on.

Religion would be there to assist us in living just as it is today. Living is not the fear of anything its the understanding of the God of the universe. If there was no death God would still be there.

That's pretty silly considering after the first person died we'd kinda HAVE to realize that everyone was gonna die. Religion is more of a comfort thing. To prove that your life may be horrible right now, but you have something to look forward to later.

Yes because God is still God. It matter not. We still would need someone to keep us from the grasp of satan, we would still need a Healer, Deliverer, etc. In God, we would still live, breathe and have our being. Without Him, there would be no life for us. May God bless U.

Guess you need to separate religion from belief. Belief will always exist.
