No, no lit candles or incense. It's not necessarily for one thing. Also, I prefer toasting the Gods and Goddesses with a drink whilest setting around a bonfire.
Which Deities do I pray to? That'd be the Norse ones.

No, I have never lit candles or incense when i pray.
I am a Christian and I pray to the God (and by my beliefs he is the only God). The Bible says to pray with out ceasing. So, I just pray as I go about my day as things come up and I try to set aside time to really enter into prayer. During that time I guess some might light candles but I don't I just want to set aside time to focus on Him, His Word and to hear from Him.

I pray to the Great Spirit and burn sage, cedar, sweet grass, or copal. This is to carry prayers to Creator and bless me and others. I also pray to the Six Directions, in that, they are like helping Angels (Spirit Grandfathers), that have sources of wisdom and healing energy, as well as practical environmental help. So, W-N-E-S - Up and Down. Creator and Jesus are the up direction and represent one (Yet all part of the Universal Power, that power that hums and is the Big Bang).
Sometimes I do light candles, and utilize them in a color sense (symbolically in my Native belief system) and the sense that the candle can represent a prayer, like green for example = growth, healing, and so forth. I think there is only One Higher Power for all people. Yet, this God has helped all people with similar ceremonies and prayers. It is not that all spirituality is interchangeable, but that it all has similar ways of prayer and so forth. Some have big differences, but one thing is for sure, they come from one God and ALL areas of Grandmother Earth. I respect all other spirituality, but when it comes to forcing anthers belief on me or some religion from half way across the world, I have to step back and say no. I am from America. : ) Also, I do not think it is really wise to mix certain ceremonies and beliefs, different things, meanings, beliefs. There must be a reason Creator made us all so diverse. Yet, we all come from same first human beings.....

Lighting candles, offerings, incense, etc. should be physical expressions of what is truly happening on the inside. Being a Roman Catholic, i have grown to believe that the true essence of prayer is to realize that you do not even have to pray - you just listen :)

Prayer isn't a dark and secretive process, as the candles and incense suggest. You are just chatting with God, worshipping, thanking and asking of God.
You can pray anytime, anywhere. I do.

I don't do anything special at home with my daily prayers. I don't even kneel at my bed like I had to during my childhood. But when I go to church, I will sometimes go into the Eucharist Chapel where the Tabernacle is and light a candle for my intentions.
I am Catholic and pray to the one and only true God. YHVH.

I'm not a big ritualistic person. Once in a while I will light a candle... It's not a big part of my "prayer routine"...
As far as prayer goes, I just find myself talking to my Father & Mother God, My Spirit Guide, and the folks I know who have returned Home, like my Dad and my Grandparents as I drift off to sleep.
