The bottom line here is the power (watts) consumed by the item. Of course a 61 watts item consumes more power than a 16 watt items. The contradicting claims that both can be heared up to 1000 ft can only be authenticated by testing them both at the same time. The power (wattage) triangle P=IV (where P=Power, I=current and V=voltage should tell us that a 61 watts megaphone powered by a 12 volt battery consumes 5 Amperes of current, whereby a 16 watts megaphone using the same 12 volt battery consumes only 1.4 Amperes of current. That's why a test (face to face) like above should prove the truth.
