Is she drinking alot of fruit juice? Have you switched her to cow's milk? All these things can cause her to have loose stools. I dont know what your question is but banana's usually can help with loose stools.
It is not because she is tiny for her age or asthmatic. My daughter was born weighing 1.7 pounds at age 2 she was not even 10 pounds. She too has asthma. If your Dr is saying its because she is tiny for her age and she has asthma then you need to see another Dr. And why did you tell us your Dr said no fruit then come back with an edit to say she doesn't take fruit? Doesn't make sense.
Also it doesnt take a virus to run through her system 3 weeks, normal viral time is 5-10 days beyond that she needs to be seen. Are they just loose? Or is it diarrhea? Maybe just soft? My sons stools are "soft" but I guess some ppl might call it loose because they aren't formed like ours
Try the Braty diet :bananan's, rice, applesauce, toast, yogurt if its a hydration issues or if its as bad as you claim use oral electrolite replacement {pedilite} but if its been going on for 3 weeks and shes not dehydrated then I dont think its as bad as you say

It could be a number of things that are causing it. You say loose how loose? It may not be the fruit that is causing this problem. Does she have oranges, mandarines, Orange juice or other juices? I know that if my son or daughter at that age had even one mandarine, then you could guarantee they had loose stools. Apparently young childrens digestive system, have trouble digesting cytrus? This making them go through them. Not sure how much of that is true though.
Is she loosing weight? Does she want to eat? Does she look unwell to you?
Another thing that came to mind is, it could be a virus like rotovirus, giardia, or it could be a bacterial bug that is in her intestines, some of the signs is usually the colour of their stools, mucas in the stools etc.
Im surprised your doctor hasnt asked for a stool sample and that being sent of to patholgy, just to rule out these things. Prior to this did anyone around you have a stomach bug or your daughter. It could also be that she is constipated or something has changed in her diet, eg Milk/formula or if you have got her on cows milk this could be another reason. My Uncle is an asthmatic and apparently Cows Milk can be one of the major causes of Asthma, as well as allergies, if on it at a young age. An 11 mth old cant tell you if their sick. But for 3 weeks, I doubt it is the fruit. Seek an second opinion.

I agree with Mike O on this one. Eventhough bananas thicken up the stool it doesnt prevent it either. Seedy fruits, watermelon, strawberries, are a definate no no. Even in baby food those lil seeds can get stuck in her bowels and cause the loose stools (colitis). Speaking of colitis, how is her mood when she has the bm's. If she is some pain, I would suspect it is colitis. In which case you need to keep her on a soft, seedless diet and nothing like peanuts, candy, chips ( anything that breaks into tiny pieces).
I wish you the best of luck and if you aren't sure, just ask the dr again; that's what they're there for.

My daughter had this around this age...beleive it or not, it was her molars coming in really early that caused it. Stick with the B-R-A-T-Y diet....bread, rice, applesauce, toast, and PLAIN yogurt. Also, you may want to try Pedialite to keep her hydrated. Skip juices and do not switch formula right now if you are formula feeding as that's only going to make the diarrhea worse. Good Luck!

Fruits work as laxatives in the body and therefore HELP with the flow of things. Avoid the fruit and if that doesn't work, go back to the doctor.

Celiac Disease! This is very common and RARELY diagnosed by medical doctors. One person in 100 has it in the U.S. Demand, I repeat, Demand that your doctor refer you and your baby to a Celiac specialist for a proper evaluation.
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that damages the lining of the small intestine. It is caused by an allergic reaction to proteins in wheat, rye and barley called glutens/gliadins. Treatment consists of avoiding all foods that contain these proteins.
Other possibilities include food allergies, intestinal dysbiosis, and small bowel bacterial overgrowth. Does your baby have any other symptoms (e.g. ear infections, skin rashes, etc.)? Has he/she been on antibiotics? NSAIDs? (aspirin, advil, motrin, etc.) These are BASIC issues that must be considered with abnormal bowel functions. Also, was your baby breast fed? How long? At what age were foods introduced? At what age were grains introduced?
Best wishes and good luck.
