Amen, if they feared God they would act a lot different. I am a Christian and I believe the fear of God is not very common any more, we need to go back to our roots.

If they feared God there would be no such thing as a Christian Comedian, which are not christians anyway.

I fear Almighty God who is all Powerful, but I fear out of reverance, not an insecure fear that keeps me in hiding. This latter fear is not of God. God has not given us a spirit of fear in this sense. We fear God in a much more meaningful, reverance way because of who He is. To fear God is wisdom. God bless

I think we do not fear Him enough because we have faulty ideas about Him. We give Him unworthy titles like "the Man upstairs" or "my buddy Jesus." We think He is bearded, old-fashioned, goes around wearing robes, and doesn't understand our iPods and MySpace. We also don't think He's relevant to our lives; we visit a church once a week, mingling self-consciously with a lot of complete strangers, then scoot out quickly to get on with our busy lives.

Also, Christians are too one-sided regarding their ideas of God. They think of Jesus as a meek and mild Shepherd, and they forget the time He went through the Temple overturning tables and wielding a whip of small cords. They think He only loves and forgives and helps. Yet He is going to demand an account of our lives. He will tell us, "Well done, good and faithful servant," or "you wicked lazy servant" based on our works. He is the Judge of the living and the dead.

"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy body and soul in hell" (Matt. 10:28).

Well I have a reverant fear of my Holy Father but I don't live in abject terror because He loves me and wants what is best for me. As to other people who claim to believe in God but who have no fear of Him I would say that it is because they don't really know God. God is a concept in their minds that is the equivalent of a mental idol that they have created in the image that they want God to appear in.

They do fear him. At least that's what the catholic church does to people. They want you to fear his damnation, hell fire and brimstone, his almighty wrath. It's fear god, join the church and we will save you. It's interesting that many religions view of god is a loving, all forgiving , merciful god.
