Car is a Chevy Optra (2004) and its the stock CD/Mp3/AM/FM receiver. It is demanding a 4 digit code, I have a 1-6 keypad. No clue what the code is, it is NOT in the manual or any of my dealer documentation. Went to my dealer and they want to charge me to fix this. Please tell me I don't have to pay for this!! It was just a dead battery. *shakes fist at stereo*

the radio code is in the original selling dealership papers...most of the time, car dealers will put the code in the back of the owners manual, or sometimes stick it underneath the ashtray, and ...by the way is this still under warranty..anyway... go back to dealership..have them run the vin number and tell you who was the origianl selling dealer...and get phone number..call and ask for code...but remember this...do not continue to try and put in random codes..because before you can reprogram the radio...it has to set for 24 hours...or it thinks your a thief....If you go to the chevy dealership and talk to one of the service writiers and show proof of ownership...they can retreive code in the service lane..if you call and ask them for help..slip them 20.00....you will get your code...

I would take it to a Car Audio shop before the dealer and see what the say. The dealer costs way too much to do little things like that.

for example... for my remote to lock/unlock my doors they want $90 to buy a new one, and $50 to reprogram it. But for a third of the price I can go to a car audio place and get a new one and have it programmed.

Typically I have been able to find the code in the glove box. At last check it was written on a card about the size of your license. You probably have it stashed away among other papers in your glove box. It may be 4 or 5 digits. Good luck!

Look for a sticker in the glove box. If it is not there, you will have to take it to the dealer. If you try too many times, it will lock out the radio for 30 minutes.
