Assuming you are looking for an indoor dog & that you live in a house with a fenced yard in a safe area, you can solve the issue of having to rush home to let the dog out by putting in a doggie door so they can go in or out on their own.
I have one for my dog & have never had an issue with her using it.
They do take some of your time & money in order to keep them groomed & for vet bills.
But they are always happy to see you when you get home no matter what stupid things you might have done that would tick off the humans you share your house with.
I can always count on my dog to be there to welcome me home.

Advantages-unconditional love! It seems so cliche, but it is true. A good gaurdian, fun to play with, makes you feel happy inside. They can turn a bad day great! Satisfaction when you train them properly.
Disadvantages-dealing with bad behavior, even when they mean no harm. Destructive, and always the piece of paper with the important number on it is what they shred! TIME CONSUMING! Needs walking, socialization, feeding, and everything else every day, no exceptions. Is it raining? Too bad! You puppy is going crazy and needs excercise. Are you tired? Too bad, your puppy needs to go outside and run around for 20 minutes before they go to the bathroom. Did you just clean the floors? Too bad, your sweet, cute puppy just peed on them. 500 dollar shoes? What a great chew toy for your teething puppy! They can be great pets, but the commitment is outstanding. Older dogs are better, but puppies are more than a handful. They are catastrophe after catastrophe for about a year, depending on the breed. You must train them and be consistant. It is very hard, but it can pay off!
Please be certain that you can handle a puppy. If not, consider an older dog. There are too many good dogs in shelters because the owners couldn't handle the stress. Be a smart owner!

Advantages and disadvantages are about the same as having a child.
When you acquire a dog your life has got to change to accomodate the animal. No more going out after work to shop or spend time with friends without going to tend to the dog first or you'll come home to a huge mess or neighbors complaining.
They cost almost as much as a child in food, vet bills and all the paraphenalia you want them to have to keep them happy, healthy and occupied while you're gone. You have to educate them so they'll be well mannered. A dog is only going to be as good and intelligent as the time you put into it.
Instead of going out to the bar with friends or shopping you'll be going to the dog park so pooch can get in some social time as well as exercise.
You'll be hindered sometimes in what you can do and where you can go with your dog especially when it comes to vacations and where you can live. But it's do-able.
On the up-side tho a dog will give you so much joy the cons of ownership don't matter. You'll be constantly amazed at how easily they pick things up.There are alot of words we have to spell because our dogs go absolutly balistic when they hear them cos they know something goods about to happen.
No matter what a dog will love you and never have some other more pressing buisness to attend to when you need someone to cry on.A dog will never tell your buisness.A dog will not throw wild parties in your house or wreck your car.You don't have to worry about them cheating on you or fighting with your friends and putting you in the middle.A dog is happy with pretty much about anything you give it.There's no complianing about getting the same toy it got last Christmas.Or that someone else got more than they did unless you have 2 dogs. There're always ready for an adventure evan if it's just a walk around the block.
Feed it.love it,make certain it's health is never left in question, keep it safe, provide for it's physical and mental needs and you'll get back 200 times over what you gave back in love and devotion and joy every day.

I had a dobie about 10 years ago i guess now. He used to be a sensible canine. Housebroken in every week, crate educated, under no circumstances did some thing mistaken. Far from a watch dog although. He was once quiet, he performed exceptional with my cat on the time and respected my elderly beagle. He adored his bean bag. I acquired him when he was 12 weeks ancient. Regrettably at 2 half years historic he ended up with "Rage" and he had to be put to sleep. It used to be terrible! I stored him round longer than I will have to have i assume, reason he ended up biting a couple associates of mine however I adored him and did not feel he could not be constant until the day he came after me naturally out of his mind and that i knew he was fitting harmful. He was once a gift and i know he failed to come from a official breeder reason he was once purchased for $100 and not using a papers but he used to be purebred. If your occupied with a Dobie, do the breed and breeder research so which you could hinder what I needed to go thru.

I have five dogs and love having them, they are cute, affectionate, playful, funny, no one breaks into your house, and just good company. They are also a big responsibility, they can be expensive if they have medical problems or need to be groomed and the biggest disadvantage is when you go on vacation or even out of town overnight you have to get someone to take care of them. Of course that would be much easier if you only have one dog. The most important thing is to do a little research and get a dog conducive to your lifestyle and personality. Good Luck

Advantages: Good companion, great for kids to take on more responsibility, keeps you company and may encourage you to be healthier, by taking them out for walks. Dogs are great pets and overall are alot of fun.
Disadvantages: Potty training if the dog is kept indoors, puppies like to chew everything you don't want them to, but they are very cute. Vet bills, shots, regular check ups, as well as heart worm medicine, because trust me, not giving the medicine will cost you more in the long run.
Think it over, because having a pet is a lot of responsibility, it is like having another child you needs your attention. However, they always appreciate you and don't talk back!

The disadvantage is that you have to come home at certain times to let the dogs out. Example, you can't go out after work, or you can only be gone 8 hours or so, and you have to come home and let the dogs out. The advantages....wow...they are so many of them. The number one advantage is that they give you unconditional love!

advantages: kisses, somebody to play silly games with without looking stupid, somebody to keep you warm at night (either your feet, by sleeping at the foot of your bed, sometimes under the covers, or your whole body, by laying on top of you, like large breeds such as Great Danes and Great Pyrenees often do), somebody who may worship food more than you but is always happy to see you
disadvantages: holes in your yard, feces in your yard, barking at night, mud on your clothes (when they jump up on you), having to look for and retrieve a dog that has escaped, having to deal with an angry neighbor with regard to a missing, possibly dead, cat
most of the disadvantages can be avoided by proper training
If you're not sure about getting a dog, volunteer at a local animal shelter or take care of a friend's dog(s) for a while. There's nothing like experience to tell you one way or the other.
