Why almost every religion test its adherence by the length of women's clothings. Problem is that self-anointed religious leaders claims those stipulation as laid down by God himself. Further problem is that a good number of women also seems to be in a trance and vehemently support such clothings as God's wish. These believers should realize that God has much more important works to do rather than deciding the length of clothings and that too only for women ??

It's an control issue, abusive to women and demoralizing. For men it supposedly will keep their minds pure,as they don't seem able to on their own.

It is the 21st Century...NOT the 1800's or 1700's, women should be able to wear whatever clothing style that their comfortable with...an that includes hairstyles/jewelry/makeup!!
NO one has the right to tell anyone what they can wear or not wear...this is afterall a FREE country!!
But there is a difference between "modest sexy" and dressing straight out slutty...it's ALL in how the woman carries herself not the articles of clothing she wears...for 'example' a 16 yr. old girl has no right wearing an extremely short skirt with a show it all top...now switch it around to a 34 yr. old woman wearing the same outfit there's BIG difference since the 34 yr. old would pull it off tastefully unlike the 16 yr. old!!
Age makes a big difference, but NO religion has the right to limit the style of clothing that a woman chooses to wear!!

A perfect example of stipulations placed on both men and women can be found in Vatican city. There no one is permitted to show their legs in any form because it might cause impure thoughts in the minds of those around them.....talk about messed up.

That preserving purity. Just imagine women parading in immodest clothes! Won't that drag you into sin? That would be all about chastity and respect and prudence. The body is the temple of God so it should be kept pure and clean and sacred.

It's a control issue. That and some people will believe anything.

I personally don't care who wears what, they'd better have a good heart and do things in a good way. Other than that, the other stuff doesn't mean a thing.

I call it legalistic interpretation of the Scriptures.

People forget that the Bible is for instruction but some just take it to the limit. For example, in 1 Cor 11:15, it states that women should not cut their hair because her long hair is her glory, but what Paul is really talking about is what was going on in the Church in Corinth.

The unveiled woman of Corinth was a prostitute and many had their heads shaven. Apparently the women in the Church were saying "All things are lawful for me, therefore I won't cover my head." Paul says this should not be done because the veil is a mark of subjection, not to man, but to God. Today the veil is a woman's hair. Also, they forget to read that Paul further stated that he is not giving a rule to the churches. He just states what is best in his opinion.

Scripture indicates that regulations for a woman's dress are in regard to her ministry. If she is to lead, she ought to have her head covered (1 Tim 2:8-10). This states that if the woman is to lift up holy hands in the service in leading, she is not to adorn herself to draw attention to herself. You know women, we do love fashion.

Also, she should not try and win her husband by sex appeal (outward adornment). A woman ought not to call attention to herself when she is speaking for the Lord or teaching a Bible class or praying. I don't know where the Scriptures says you can't wear a watch, brooch, ear rings or necklace if its modestly done in her estimation.

We are told to not be showy or obtentatious, not to be extravagant but to be simplistic with shyness (careful), to not be pretentious in our manner of dress. Like worldly women, not to depend on all the fashion trappings and latest hairstyles (fads) to attract attention but rather put on chasity and love, meekness, and gentleness.

I don't think this means you have to look like the women on Little House on the Prarie or the Amish. One can still look nice with a minimum amount of accessories, but you should let the Holy Spirit guide you in the proper clothing.

Woman have always been the moral compass (until recently) for us horn-dog men. I think God expects modesty from all of us but men and women, being the totally different creatures we are, well, men are visual creatures and well, you know the rest.....

It's about control. By controlling women's clothing you control sex and so control both men and women.
