I got an 8 week old kitten on Sunday and my boxer seems to have developed OCD! She's not mean, she doesn't want to play, she just wants to hover and HAS to be around the cat ALL the time. Is there anything I can do?

Let your puppy do it. She's curious, and probably is wanting to protect the kitten too.

Nothing harmful about it.

She will get used to the kitten with time. Right now she is just fascinated with it. The more she is around the kitten the more used to it she will become. Keep an eye on the situation though, boxers are excellent dogs, but they can tend to have a high prey drive so always monitor your boxer and your kitten when they are together until you are sure that she will not follow her boxer instinct to pounce it!
Best of luck!

Yeah its not that its obsessed, he just wants to play with it. A KITTEN is extremely playful and boxers especially puppies are off the wall! Just make sure they don't get hurt, keep and eye on them and make sure your boxer doesn't harass your new kitten!

Actually, that sounds pretty normal for a boxer. I haven't met a boxer that didn't walk around with her/his nose on the cat. Your girl is just curious, and once the kitty gets sick of her, she'll let the dog know. If you get sick of it, let your dog know that it's not okay behavior. Scold her when she starts her OCD on the kitty. Thats about all you can do. Eventually, though, they will get over it.

Don't draw too much attention to the kitten in front of the dog. Act like you're ignoring the kitten, and only interacting when you feel like the dog may start playing too rough or showing signs of aggression. When the dog leaves the kitten alone, then praise the dog up and pay attention to him/her.

She or he will probably loose it's interest eventually but just in case it doesn't never leave them alone together.
