What's your budget?

Basically most people work with a wideangle, a normal and a telephoto lens.
You could buy a wide angle zoom (Tokina 12-24mm, Canon EF-S 10-22mm or Canon EF 17-40mm), a standaard zoom (24-85mm) and a tele zoom (70-200mm). Remember you
Canon 30D doesn't have a 35 mm size sensor, you will have to multiply the focal lengths by 1.6 to get the 35 mm equivalent. If you buy lenses made for APS-C sensors only you can't use them on a full frame sensor camera like the Canon 5D. If you will buy a full frame camera in future you would have to buy new lenses as well.

See this list of lenses for Canon cameras:

Memorycards, from 2 gb upto 8gb. But the higher the capacity and speed the more expensive of course. Any good brand will do.

I have only been in this business for 42 years and I find that either a 28 or 35 for landscapes and group shots, a 50 for a shot as the eye sees it, and a 105 or 135 for portraits. You can, of course, cover those areas with zooms if you want. In that case, get a 28 to 70 and a 70-either 150 or 200. The other thing I would buy would be a 2x converter which will double the lengthof your lens.

You picked a good one to start with.
Without breaking the bank, here are a few suggestions:
budget-
Canon EF 28-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens
Canon EF-S 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6 USM Lens
Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Telephoto
*the IS stands for Image Stabilization.
-or-
if you have the money-
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM Zoom Lens
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Zoom Lens
These two of my favorite lenses.
The trick is, to get a good lens that you can use in most situations. You don't want to be stuck with a bunch of lenses down the road you don't want to use. So don't go the cheap route. There are alot of crappy third party lenses out there, and some decent ones. But stick with what you know.

As for the memory card....well. My favorite is SanDisk. Get at least 1gb. They are very inexpensive these days. Lexar has failed everyone I know. They used to be the pro's choice.
All memory cards go out eventually. But my SanDisks have lasted the longest.
Good Luck, and have fun!

If only three are possible then

Wide angle 28mm standard lens 50 mm close-up 85 mm

Wider angle lenses are available, but they tend to create fish-eye images easily. Not good for regular use.

Check this on your camera of choice to be sure this suits you. If not, then stay with 35 mm.

Standard lens is a standard lens. Good for standard images.
Covers less area than the 28 or 35. Allows crisp images.

85 allows a good close-up, with little distortion, but 125 should be looked at. Use discretion. Again, put one on your camera and see what it will deliver.
