swelling it got so swelled you could leave a indent with your finger when you push on it, and i can't feel 2 of my toes and is very painful to walk. i've been checked to see if it was gout, it's not, i've had a MRI it didn't show any thing wrong with my foot, but there is alot of water around my ankle. It feels like someone is pinching my foot at all times. the more i,m on the foot the bigger it gets, sometimes i can't even wear my shoes, It hurts the foot to even wear socks the sock gets to tight after awhile.Does anyone have any idea what can be causing this?

Has your dr. checked you for diabetes? Many diabetics have foot problems, and numbness and an infection of the foot could be a symptom. You could have an infection in the foot which is causing the swelling and pain.

i have the same problem except my doesn't hurt anymore. i have had an MRI, 2 ultra sounds on my leg, chest, foot, leg and ankle x-rays done as well as tons of blood work and nothing can up. i ran out of money so i cant go for further tests. my toes aren't numb. the swelling and indentations are also below my knee. my foot and ankle are the worst though. i was told edema was what the swelling was called and i looked it up and changed my diet but the swelling didn't go down. it hasn't gotten worse. it's been the same way for 4 years. i can't wear dress shoes cuz my foot wont fit, i can still wear tennis shoes though. sorry i couldn't be more help. if you find and information that cures it PLEASE email me at lukyleaf@hotmail.com, put urgent as the subject. i elevate it when i can and that seems to make the swelling go down, but as soon as i stand up and start walking around it, it gets worse. ice doesn't help either. I'm really sorry this happened to you to. my race is black and white and i am adopted, so i don't know if it is heredity. it could be a rare race related disease. can you tell I'm desperate for an answer?

Oh, Dear Lesbo, I know that you have truly found your soul mate and I am just sorry that I waited too long to make my move. I have always been afraid to approach you because I am intimidated by you breathtaking beauty like if you were Cindy Crawford of whom you remind me very much but she was just my little boy crush and you are. well, were, the real thing. So close and yet so far. You probably wouldn't even recognize me since I am jsut one of those lowly trolls in Accounting who worships you from afar but I should tell you that I am not the only one. I hope that no one will do anything foolish to ruin your love because it sounds pefrect to me. I am heartsick and ashamed of my cowardice when I hear that you don't think other men could love you because there are least three of us down here. If I had only made my move befpore now I would not be so sad now and ready to end it all. i will not be coming back to work again because I can't bear to see you this happy and not be the reason for it. I wish you all the best when he shows up with that beautiful new ring. You will always have my heart!! Witth all my Love, Mike Hunt (frpom Accounting)

You have oedema.
It is an accumulation of excess fluid bulit up under the skin. Swelling causes pain because of the increased pressure on internal structures and your skin.
It's caused by fluid escaping from the small bloods vessels called capillaries, into the surrounding skin.
It is caused by your kidneys hanging on to too much sodium and water, increasing the amount of fluid in the blood vessels, putting more strain on the blood vessels, leading to leakage.
You need to put your foot up as much as you can which will stop so much swelling. It can also decrease some of the swelling you already have.
Decrease you salt intake and watch for hidden salts in foods.
Although you need to keep your fluids up to avoid dehydration you need to slightly restrict your fluid intake with oedema. Your Doctor will need to decide on just how much.
You also need to see him about taking some diuretics, which make you wee like made, but decreases fluid, for a short time.
Go put your foot up now and relax. it is a fairly common condition that can occur at any age. medications can also cause it as a side effect.
Hope this helps.

My 1st thought was gout but since you have been checked for that then we know its not that. Have they checked you for any form of arthritis? It does sound like you are retaining fluid but only in your feet. My only suggestion would be to try and get an appointment with a foot and ankle specialist. I have chronic foot pain and my foot doctor has been wonderful about trying to figure out what my problem is. I want to wish you all of the luck in the world because i know where you are coming from. I hope you find the right doctor who can diagnose you soon. Good luck

Have your blood pressure checked a couple of times a weeek some fire stations will do this for you. If you are full of fluid this could be serious. I had this problem but not as servere what I thought was swelling was fluid I had never had a problem with blood pressure until then. Please see your Dr as soon as posible tell him or her you suspect high blood pressure they should check it twice when you arrive and after you have been seated for a little while I hope this helps. God Bless

I have spinal problems and have those sypmtons. Something is cutting of your circulation from my guess. Keep your feet up as much as possible. Try not to eat salty foods and drink lots of liquids to flush your system. Also, see if your doctor will give you a "water pill" it may help. If you smoke, try to quit, it aggrevates it.
