Mormans are nice people, but, their religion is based on fables. Historical studies have proven the basis on which Joseph Smith was false and 'invented' There is no evidence that any race of people ever lived in America previous to the American indians. The common knowledge that the mormon people are not to question or challenge the doctrine or spiritual leaders does not allow the followers to genuinely and sincerely prove or even question what they are taught to believe by their families and spiritual leaders.
Because the Mormons are so family oriented, it is difficult for those who are single, or who cannot have children, or who choose to never marry, to fit into the mormon culture. This also goes for those who divorce.
It is tragic that mormonism is exclusive and you have to follow all their 'rules' to enjoy the mormon heaven and become and 'etermal soul' So many follow an book created in a mystical way, causingmormons to worship Moroni who stands at the peak of their temples instead of Jesus Christ. They fail to understand the reason Jesus Christ came to earth to die for the sins of mankind. There is no Biblical evidence that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers or that all believers will one day stand in judgement before Elohim, Jesus and Joseph Smith. At the temple, the rites become works of righteousness, which the Bible teaches we cannot come to God by works of righteousness. We must come by faith. There are so many of the doctrines which are in direct violation to the Bible.
I hope you do not consider me rude, but I feel you want to know what others think about Mormonism...and these are just some of the things that non-mormons question.

How do I put it nicely??? I am an ex-mormon, I grew up 15 minutes away from the prophet, so I grew up around a mormon community, I was around the mormons 24/7. I lived, ate and drank mormonaism, but I was also always suicidal. The rest of my family seeemd to be mental as well, so I came to the conclusion, that all the stress to be a great looking (brainwashing) Mormon was casuing, it but some mormons have said that mental illness is heritary, but it doesn't explain what happen when I got saved and became a christian, I stopped being depressed and wanting die.

One of the many cults from the first third of the 19th. century. Most have fallen by the wayside, lacking the support system that Mormons use to help other cult members along. Generally in any large organization, when a Mormon reaches a position with some influence, there is a flood of hiring of other Mormons whether qualified or not. And, no, I never lost out on a job because of that.

I have no issues with the mormon way of life - it's civilized if not a little boring. Mormons care after their own, keep their lawns mowed and try to live the Ward and June Cleaver life. I lived that life for several decades.
But the dogma of the church is suspect, the dodges too transparent, and too many discrepancies that apologetics put a band-aid on. Too many band-aids to be coincidental, too much dissuasion from seeking 'real' answers.
Like I stated elsewhere, Yahoo isn't the best place to solict opinions of religion or faith, and even legitimate questions get trounced.
Just keep in mind that not all 'anti' is from 'anti' or 'ex' mormons. Open minded maybe.

Mormon people are nice, although I disagree with the mantra of them belonging to the one true church. THe main thing that bothers me about mormons is that they either accept that their is a lot of evidence against the stories and doctrines of Mromonism, or they dont know them. One of the reasons for not knowing them is that they are not allowed to read any "anti" mormon literature out of fear of being ex communicated. Anti mormon literature is not anti as such, some people just want to point out the many errors of the mormon religion.

When I think of a Mormon, I think of Christians and Missionaries in the word of God. They are dedicated to spread the word of God. I am somewhat confused about the Book of Mormon. I was always taught only the Holy Bible is what we must learn from. I am always kind to the Mormon Missionaries. They are Great to speak to and they will help you, when in distress. I am not a Mormon. I have walked in the Mormon Trail. Since then and reading about the trials and tribulation they endure, my Respect goes out to them. We all need to Respect their Religion and don't be rude to them. I just hope and pray you are not a cult. I really like the Mormons, but do not fully understand their Religion.

Thanks for the opennes on your part. The intent is not to be rude. I never joined your church because I read some things the elders showed me from the Book of Hebrews and saw from in there that the LDS church is not a true restoration as they contend.

I've worked with and lived with Mormons. I consider them upright, hard working, polite, and clean cut.
LDS theology is another story. Hope that answers your question.
