It MEANS: stop smoking!!! She's probably saying it because she cares a lot about you and wants you to be healthy! If you like her so much, then do what she says! Who knows what'll happen? However, you shouldn't read too much into this if you have really been friends your whole life, she's probably just looking out for you. I tell my guy friends to stop smoking or doing drugs or whatever all the time and I have a boyfriend. Maybe you should ask her why she cares so much, but make sure its in a flirty way, not an angry one. She might just TELL you how she feels.

At the least, it means that she cares enough about you to want you to have a chance at a longer and healthier life by giving up a dangerous and expensive habit.
It could also mean that she might like you as more than a friend but doesn't want to be involved with a smoker. That's a big deal for a lot of people these days. She may be waiting to see if this is a habit that you can and will give up.

Maybe she would like to date you, but cannot tolerate smoking. I personally would never date a guy who smoked. I think it is a disgusting habit and wouldn't even think about kissing a guy who did.

She's looking out for your health. Or maybe it just bothers her. If she digs you, then STOP DOING IT, because clearly she's got an issue with it.
Then use the money you saved to do something nice for/with her (i.e. ritzy restaurant as opposed to Mickey D's).
