well me and a friend are planning on driving to canada, and was wondering if a simple ID card would help?

If you are a US or Canadian citizen crossing on the ground, you do not need one yet, but a birth certificate is a good idea.
If you fly across the border, you do.

as long as it's before October you can drive across the border, but i would suggest having your birth certificate & a photo ID ...... they are getting picky
