Grew up and learned drive in Edsels. My family had three. They drove the same as a Ford of the same vintage. The styling was "special" but not worth the price premium from a regular ford.
The failure of the Edsel was a result of the narrow marketing range it was supposed to fit. It was supposed to be nicer than a Ford but not as expensive as a Mercury. This is when the Mercury and Ford were completely different cars. Now the Ford and Mercury are very similar.

The only thing it sucks is air and lots of it through it's 4 barrel carb and 410 cu in motor! I used to have one of those and it only got 11 to 13 mpg. Just standard Mercury Lincoln parts.

find out more about the Edsel in this group

I've driven several of em....quite a while back. They were basically just a Ford. An UGLY Ford. It's looks killed it.

I've riden in one many times. Ever seen a Santa Fe box car going down a wavy track? Kinda like that, but the box car will run faster.
