I know this may sound weird, but Bananas can help people trying to give up smoking. The B-6 and B-12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.
Potassium is a vital mineral which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be re-balanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.
So try eating some bananas :)
For the cinco de mayo thing... some of the addiction is oral and normalacy... when you normally have cigarettes, that's when you crave them... one of my friends would bring a ballpoint pen with her when she would go out drinking... she would hold it in her hand like she would when she was a smoker... and if she had the oral craving, she would chew on the pen... sounds weird, but worked for her :)

I drank a lot of ice water when I had a craving. And I walked a lot, or went somewhere, where I couldn't smoke. Just until you have gotten your cravings under control, I suggest maybe you hold off celebrating your b day by drinking. Set a date further into your smoke free life to celebrate when the temptation has faded a little more. Good luck. It is very hard to quit, but it takes determination and will power. BTW my 5 year smoke free anniversary is your Bday.

I really dont envy you. I smoked for about 8 years and eventually quit last year at the age of 24 and it wasn't easy, so i know how you feel. Anyway, what helped me when i went drinking with my friends was nicotine gum, which helped take the edge off my craving for a cigarette, or you can try chewing regular gum. Maybe try cutting down your alcohol intake when you go out (wasn't an option for me though). If i ever felt like i was losing motivation i used to try and remind myself of the benefits of quitting (health, more money). Good luck!!!

Smoking is hard to quit. My uncle, Grandad, father and most important to me, my Nan do or have smoked. My Grandad and father smoke cigars now but there just as bad if not worse because unlike cigarettes they have no filter. My Uncle on the other hand has made me VERY proud. he has quit smoking even though he's been doing it since before i was born. And ..come to think of..since before you were born. However(sadly) My Nan who is VERY important to me and is ( i know this sounds cheesy but i swear it's true!) really the only person who understands how i feel at my age, still smokes and i ( this also sounds cheesy but i also swear that this is true too) have nightmares about her dying from lung cancer...and it doesn't't help that in science we've just recently covered how bad smoking is for your body and were shown pics. of a lung of a person who smoked ( here is a site where you can go and see what happens or will happen to your lungs if you continue to smoke, http://www.quitsmokinghelp.net/dl2.jpg) So. even though i know it's hard.......if doing it for your self doesn't help think about all of your family members that love you. Do it for them. Or like me they might have nightmares......please stop smoking it's bad for you and i hope that this helps ...if it doesn' t then ...I'm sorry.

Get through it and you will love not having to be attached to something. You won't have that as a dependency. Think about how you will feel after you do something you might regret. I've never smoked, but the gum or patch might help. It's not a good habbit. Just keep repeasting that to yourself everytime you feel the urge. Hold on strong man.
YOU CAN DO IT!!! I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!

think of it this way. im sixteen and my entire family (mom, dad, brother, uncle, grandma, great aunt.. whom are the only family i actually see regularly) have smoked my entire life. i went to the chiropractor and got an x-ray for my back and they found tons of scar tissue in my lungs that ive been developing my whole life from second hand smoke. so that could possibly dock a few years of my life. so if you have anybody close to you do it for them. also my brother is 22 and he has been smoking since he was my age and he just gave it up. and i know most definately as his sister, if he can do it anyone can.
good luck.
