As long as Nagin the Nazi is in power I would be careful bringing firearms into that city. He still hasn't returned the firearms he stole from New Orleans law abiding citizens during the Hurricane Katrina debacle. He left the sick and elderly defenseless against the thugs that were running around raping and pillaging. If he would do that to his own people during that situation, he would do it to an "out of towner" in a heartbeat. That being said, if I had the great misfortune to be forced to go to that city I would be packing. My theory is "it's better to be tried by 12 jurors than carried by 6 pallbearers". What ever your decision, be safe and good luck.

One answer from Jellybean, i believe, said stay out of dangerous places you shouldn't be in. Or something to that affect.
"Staying out of dangerous places didn't help the students at VT, did it." Idiots are everywhere. So anywhere you go could be dangerous. Restaurants, malls, colleges, they are all dangerous now days.

First of all, to the Pepper Spray guy, how is it faster and more effective to pull out pepper spray than a gun?

Open Carry is a 2nd Amendment Right that the State of Louisiana Recognizes in its Constitution. Louisiana Lawmakers have also applied the State Preemption Rights over other Jurisdictions concerning the Open Carry by a person who can legally do so. The trick to that Law is that it initially had grandfathered in those who had enacted restriction prior and there is some debate if that holds or not.

Your best bet is to consult with an attorney on the matter. I know that the Home Defense Foundation has a couple in their group and there is no charge for joining, learning and being safe.

But one thing I stress as a NRA Certified Instructor is are you prepared to take a life? Because whenever you pull out a gun to defend yourself, that is what you should have already resolved. There is no shoot to kill, no shot to wound. You Shoot to Stop the Threat!

You are supposed to have a concealed carry permit to keep it on your person. You may have one in your car or home. If I was working in New Orleans, I would have one too.

Good Luck

Very strick in touristy areas. If you are caught doing anything potentail to a tourist, they will throw the book at you, lock you up, and no one will hear from you in a long time.

Enlist in Blackwater Security; they get away with shooting New Orleans residents.

i'm not gonna even ask why you need to know, but i would advise you not to bring it at all, there is no need for it. but whatever here you go (btw if ur bring the gun for "protection" you don't need it, don't go in any areas that ur not supposed to be in then you okay and if you going the jazzfest you can not bring that in with you.) http://www.gunlaws.com/links/linksla.htm
