this was given to our class and so far "study hard" is wrong, "beer drinking is wrong", cheapskate is wrong, anyone else have any suggestions?

Doblar los Hombros means to put down your elbows on the desk and to study. I was told that in Spain when they wanted me to study harder.

As far as I know and also according to the RAE

it is the same as

hincar los codos.

I support the previous answer.

It does mean to study very hard. Because people have to fold their elbows on their desks (or they normally do when they study a lot.)

Who told you it doesn't? Whoever that is is wrong.
