A little tap on the end of the nose works well with most dogs. Tell him/her "no biting" as you GENTLY tap the nose. I've had dogs my entire life and that has always worked and I've never had a dog seriously bite me or a family member.

I don't know how old your dog is? But if you have a puppy it could be teething. I have a 13 week old Lab puppy. She uses me as her own chew toy. She wants to bite me just like when puppies will play together.
I try and give my puppy ice cubes often. Puppies have sore gums so this will help sometimes. Thats one reason why puppies will bite. You can take a towel and wet it then put it in the freezer until it get frozen. Then let the dog have it.
I give my puppy lots of safe puppy chew toys. The only thing is she likes me better than the toys.
I use a stern NO many times when she bites me. You have to say it loud to where it almosts scares them.
Try and get a empty soda can and put some coins in the can. When the dog starts to bite you shake the can really loud and say NO!!!
As I said if your dog is a puppy it will grow out of it. With you saying no and when the adult teeth come in . Just be stern and have lots of patiences. I really get very upset with my puppy at times. I will just put her down and will not pay any attention to her. That probably hurts her more than anything. I tell her she is bad and mommy does not want to hold her when she bites. Dogs are very smart and can understand you when you talk!!
Good Luck I hope I helped!!

Your dog should never bite you. If it is, then you are not the alpha female. Not a good thing.

The first thing I would recommend is calling a professional trainer and joining a class or if you can afford it, one on one training.

The other thing I would recommend is that you need to learn that dogs need discipline, boundaries, and love (in that order).

Ways you can reduce a dogs level in the pack include not allowing it on any couches, chairs, or beds. Only the floor. Remove toys, have a set feeding time and remove the food bowl afterwards.

If your dog is bitting you when your playing, keep a toy in one hand, maybe place it behind your back. When he attempts to bite you, bring out the toy so your dog bites the toy instead. When your dog bites down on the toy, PRAISE!! Tell him/her how good they are and continue. Eventually your dog should learn that bitting you is bad and bitting the toy is good. Its all about being consistant.
Hope this helps.

I agree with the majority of people. You must smack him gently but firmly on the nose and repeat no biting until he lets go of your hand. My dog is ten months old and very fesity. He sees it as a form of play but will only bite me and my boyfriend but we still need to break the habit.
I think it will take more that one or two smacks for this to happen. You need to be consistent with this training so that he will eventually learn you won't play with him if he bites you. Good luck!

Teach him what no means and then say no. And never reward him in any way for bad behavior. Does he get plenty of attention? Some dogs act out to get attention. They will even settle for being reprimanded--just so they get attention. It's definitely time for training. . .

Growl at him a little bit, talk in dog language. But be kind not too loud.

Maybe he's hungry, if he's full it means he wants to play

Smack him on the mouth and tell him to stop. You will only have to smack him hard one or two times. I just tap my dog on the mouth/nose lightly everytime he is biting too hard and he understands.
