It doesn't make any sense to me. Why couldn't he just forgive us? How does sending his son to be killed by us make him forgive us? I don't get it.

God did not kill Jesus, We Crusified Him with our Sins, and furthermore, Jesus is not dead, but very much alive, as He was resurrected, as many of us will be when Jesus Christ returns.
In the Old Testament people had to make sacrifices to atone for thier sins, it used to be clean animals, lambs, Jesus Christ was our final sacrifice for all of our sins when we believe, have faith, and Invite The Lord into our lives, When Jesus Christ went to the cross, He said "It is finished", at that time the Veil to the Holiest of Holies, where they offered the sacrifice before, ripped into from top to bottom, probably so someone couldn't say a human ripped it, this symbolized that It was finished, the final sacrifice for our sins was made.
When we receive The Lord into our lives, The Holy Spirit comes to live in us. The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit all make up The God Head.

Well after sin was brought into the world God had the people burn sacrifices to show them the severity of sin. Well wouldn't you know we just couldn't quit sinning, so we got into sacrificing animals left and right. Well God got sick and tired of us burning all the sacrifices because He said the stench was burning in his nostrils. Well there was absolutely no one here that was even close to blameless and that was what was needed for a supreme one time sacrifice to end all sacrifices so God used His own Dearly Beloved Son to do that horrible task to show us how much He truly loves us. Take care and may God bless you spiritually.

I can understand that it may not make sense.

It has to do with justice, a perfect balance.

Before I explain any further though, God did not kill Jesus, He allowed him to be killed. Jesus was executed by the Romans.

Now as for God allowing it and why it had to happen ?

The first man Adam chose to disobey God and therefor threw away, lost, his perfect life. As a result, he could only produce imperfect offspring, children. (Rom 5:12)

Since a perfect human life was lost, no imperfect human life could ever buy it back. (Psalm 49:7, 8) What was needed was a ransom equal in value to what was lost. This is in harmony with the principle of perfect justice found in God's Word, which says: "Soul will be for soul." (Deuteronomy 19:21) So, what would cover the value of the perfect human soul, or life, that Adam lost? Another perfect human life was the "corresponding ransom" that was required.-1 Timothy 2:6.

How did God provide the ransom? He sent one of his perfect spirit sons to the earth. But he did not send just any spirit creature. He sent the one most precious to him, his only-begotten Son. (1 John 4:9, 10) Willingly, this Son left his heavenly home. (Philippians 2:7) God performed a miracle when he transferred the life of this Son to the womb of Mary. By means of God's holy spirit, Jesus was born as a perfect human and was not under the penalty of sin.-Luke 1:35.

How could one man serve as a ransom for many, in fact, millions of humans? Well, how did humans numbering into the millions come to be sinners in the first place? As mentioned above, through Adam. Jesus, whom the Bible calls "the last Adam," had a perfect human life, and he never sinned. (1 Corinthians 15:45) In a sense, Jesus stepped into Adam's place in order to save us. By sacrificing, or giving up, his perfect life in flawless obedience to God, Jesus paid the price for Adam's sin. Jesus thus brought hope to Adam's offspring.-Romans 5:19; 1 Corinthians 15:21, 22.

The balance, justice, was restored.

Our Creator allways acts in accord with his standards. Even if he himself pains.

How can we benefit from this ransom ? By exercising faith in it. (John 3:16)

How ? It requires knowledge and then acting on it.

I hope it makes more sense now. It did to me. :o)

It wasn't God that killed Jesus. It was our sin. This was done partially to fulfill prophecy (mentioned in the book of Isiah). It was also done to end the Old covenant. If Christ didn't die for our sins, all Christians and Jews would still be making animal sacrifices to God. (Imagine the revolt to arise from the animal rights people! Mink coats would be the least of their worries!)

So in essence, Jesus's death was to cover all of the world's sins. When He was hanging on the cross, Christ became sin. Even though He was sinless in his life, Jesus still did this. (He had to be sinless, otherwise His death wouldn't of been effective.)

Three days after Jesus's death, the Son of God emerged from the tomb alive - not sin or death! That is why all of those who accept Him as Lord and Savior can get this as well!

You don't have to get it! It's a fiction, just like Harry Potter.

Does Harry REALLY have the power to talk to snakes (Parcelmouth)? Is Lucas Malfoy ALL bad?

Before you start to even THINK about believing any of this religious garbage, read the book, about the virgin sacrifices, and the banishment from the presence of God for having a Tattoo or a body-piercing, etc.

Then consign it ALL to the scrap heap of "ancient fiction".

You'll be better off, I assure you.

God did not kill Jesus...Evil men killed him...As for the reason Jesus had to die it was to defeat death for all of mankind...Jesus alone has the keys to death and hell..Jesus alone can restore corrupt men to the image of god that Adam lost for all. Jesus alone can give men eternal life...So if you don't have Jesus, the same Jesus the apostles taught. you have nothing ...Islams Isa is most definitely not the Jesus the apostles taught...The
Isa that Muslims teach did not die..Yet when peter denied Jesus would die Jesus called peter Satan. This was to show us today that the Antichrist group who denies Jesus death today is of Satan.. forewarned is forearmed......Matthew16 - 22, 23, 24

God is just. Before Jesus to be forgiven of our sins we had to kill lambs rather than us die. So God sent the perfect lamb to die for us, Jesus, and with His blood our sins are washed away. If God just forgave us..how would we know how much He loves us? But because He sent His Son to die, we now have at least a grasp on it, He was willing to die for us, our wretched selves. That's how much He loves us. If He just forgave us, without anything..we would have no clue.

And [on account of] their saying: "We killed the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Messenger of God." They did not kill him and they did not crucify him, but it was made to seem so to them. Those who argue about him are in doubt about it. They have no real knowledge of it, just conjecture. But they certainly did not kill him. God raised him to Himself. God is Almighty, All-Wise. (Surat An-Nisa', 4:157-158)

when God said: "Jesus, I will take you back and raise you up to Me and purify you of those who are unbelievers. And I will place the people who follow you above those who are unbelievers until the Day of Rising..." (Surah Al 'Imran, 3: 55)

they [unbelievers] planned and God planned. But God is the best of planners. (Surah Al 'Imran, 3:54)

Because Jesus needed to show his dedication and make people believe that he really would die for our sins to save us.

How many people would have believed him if he was like, "yeah sure I'll forgive your sins." Instead he chose to show his love by dying for us

He did not have to kill Jesus. Jesus was the very center of God's will. He did what was promised in the Bible. : )

We have the choice to make. : )
