I just bought and moved into a new townhouse and I had exactly the same dilemma as you are having. I opted to paint the cupboards and you would not believe how it changed to total look. I feel like I have a new kitchen. Prime them first as another response suggested. That is very important and there is absolutely no need to strip them. I removed the doors on all the cupboards and the knobs and handles. Painted the doors and put them back up with magnetic closures so there is no hardware showing. Its spectacular. Good luck.

Painting wood cabinets has actually been an increasing trend in the past 5 years. In fact many people are taking it one step further and antiquing them or using stencils, faux glazes, etc. Feel free to email if you need tips on antiquing, but you can get some ideas from my website if you like.

you pick to sand in the past, and between coats. best it with a bare timber primer, Kilz makes one, probable maximum paint businesses do. Use the two an exterior deck paint or a storage floor paint, they positioned on extra beneficial. some storage paints contain traction ingredients already interior the paint, yet you ought to purchase it as an additive, too. you're able to pick to apply that extraordinarily if the stairs are close to an exterior door and people may well be going up and down with moist ft, or in case you have small babies or the elderly at your living house of abode, as they are much less helpful on their ft.

Are they real wood or laminate? If its real wood I say go for it! Try contrasting colors and maybe remove a door or two (if you have cool china) my friend did red trim and black on the insides of her cabinets in a medium sized kitchen and it looked awesome!!! Have fun!!! (PS: if they're laminate give it a go anyway- You know they're driving you nuts and you'll buy new ones in the end... ;-) )

sure you can paint them, but make sure you do a really good prep job first or the finish result will not be to your liking,a good sanding, good prime job,and finally a good quality paint will give you a great looking job that is what we did and our cabinets look great

Unless the wood is something like pine, don't paint them, strip them down and refinish them. Why paint perfectly good wood.

You will need to use primer first then paint if you wish. The cost of painting is cheaper than replacing.
