It is called .30 carbine
Contrary to other answers, the U.S. Carbine, Caliber 30, M-1 was made ONLY in caliber .30 carbine. Certain aftermarket producers produced many hybrids and look-alikes in oddball calibers, but the standard government-issue (GI) M-1 Carbine was produced strictly and only in .30 carbine.
During WWII, the M-1 Carbine was produced by many different manufacturers who converted their factories to produce weaponry. Some of the M-1 Carbine's largest producers were the Rock-ola jukebox company, the IBM Corporation, and the Saginaw Steering Gear Company.

The M1 Carbine, shoots US carbine caliber 30. Otherwise known as 30 cal. carbine. It's the only chambering offered EVER in an M1 carbine.

The M1 Carbine was actually developed to replace the Colt 1911 pistol for 'rear-guard' troops like artillerymen, cooks, truck drivers, etc. It was never intended to be a front line weapon but it did in many cases.
It was very light compared to the Garand and had an available 30 round magazine and shot fast, so many soldiers risked the anemic stopping power of the .30 cal Carbine round for the other advantages.

The US M-1 carbine fires the .30 caliber US M-1 carbine round. Some civilian models were also chambered for the obsolete .256 Magnum (a necked-down, .25 caliber round based on the .357 Magnum revolver round); I doubt you can even find the ammo for it now.
NOTE: The .30 US M-1 round is really too small for anything but coyote, hares, wild turkey and maybe javalina. Nice carbine, though.

aceproce is right. 30 cal carbine round was the only one produced for this rifle. Their is an M1 (semi auto) and M2 (full auto) . Rock-ola (juke box maker) Winchester, GM's 2 Div. Saginaw gear in Saginaw Mich and Inland Guide Div. in Dayton Oh, and IBM. The Inland being worth the most. There has ben a couple other co. make them since WW2 and are worth evan less. There was a revolver also made in this cal.too. Mostly officers and MP's carried these. I have one and the cartridges are expensive

.30 carbine it is called.
Everyone here is giving you nonsense answers, they're thinking of an M1 Garand. The M1 carbine fires .30 carbine which is more of a pistol type round than a rifle round. It's smaller and lower velocity, rounded tip.
It's not super common but you can find them relatively easily.
There are no M1 carbines chambered in 30-06, .308 or other rifle cartridges.

It shoots a .30 caliber carbine round which ballistically is about equivalent to a .357 caliber handgun round.

It has its very own little cartridge, imaginatively named "30 M1 carbine." It's a particularly useless cartridge, but fun enough.
