Perhaps the minister mentioned in this so-called "question" had intended his question to be rhetorical, and was surprised rather than "shocked" that his presentation was interrupted with what does seem to be somewhat of a non sequitur by the householder.
Of course, Jehovah's Witnesses preach from door-to-door regarding the good news of God's Kingdom by Christ, and hope to point people toward the bible. Admittedly, they are generally unprepared to discuss details of Forbs [sic] data.

I don't think the question was about physical richness but moreso about persons who are rich because of their relationship with God/Jehovah. Sure they may not be wealthy or have a lot of material things, but in the long run isn't salvation and a chance at everlasting life worth more than anything money can buy?
I would argue their glasses are half-full. One could have all the money in the world but with no relationship with God what good does it do? You can't purchase salvation.
*just a side note your question should have read: Why did the two Jehovah's Witnesses look all shocked when I answered THEIR question? Oh yeah and it is Forbes magazine*

My Wife and I are Jehovah's Witnesses and maybe the Brothers didn't know the guy you mentioned. I don't know who's at the top of the list from Forbes. We love when people talk to us at the door. We are nice people and we are just preaching the good news of the Kingdom as Jesus commanded us to do. We follow the directions Jesus gave us so I would say we are pretty intelligent. When I first started studying with Jehovah Witnesses in 1996 I learned alot from the Bible. I started going door to door and I talked to some people that went to school of theology that didn't know as much as me. God's Holy Spirit takes care of his people.

Actually, witnesses don't care who the financially richest men are, as that was not the intent of the question.
Truly rich people are those rich in the glory and blessings of God and Christ, which I suspect they actually told you, but you ignored as being irrelevant.
As for financially rich people, remember what Christ said a rich man and a camel.

Most people have no answer at all.
Some give an answer, but it is elementry and childish.
For someone to actually answer with knowledge would, indeed, shock most people.
Take it as a compliment that they reacted as they did.

Jason W do you read only what you want to read and bypass the most important part of the Bible. All through your answer I read about how intelligent you all are. Who cares about that? Surely not Yeshuah. Have you ever read the Book 1 Corinthians Ch. 13 It's all about LOVE. You better go and read that Ch. It is LOVE and NOT INTELLIGENCE that Yeshuah is looking for! There, I guess you thought you knew who Yeshuah is.
Well so how much Jason W have you got in your glass.

The Jehovah's Witnesses looked shocked? So I suppose that means you can see past everyone's monitors, right?

What?
Well not sure why they asked you that but, I doubt they were shocked you answered the query. If we ask something, clearly we expect an answer. Probably if you felt they responded oddly you probably should have asked them.

The richest people are the ones with smiles on their faces, not the ones that fear their god. If they like motorcycles, then the happy ones have bugs in their teeth.
