If we are the product of our genetic inheritance and the sum total of all the environmental influences and experiences in life, then what freedom do we have to be anything else?

I know this isn't strictly a religious question but... well I feel kind of at home in this section, so there :-)

Free Will is a physiologically suggested and a promoted word with a powerful meaning. That no matter what you do and with out regard to unforeseen circumstances you and only you are responsible. Therefore if you complain, people will tell you that you had choices & free will even tho you had no control of the unforeseen .
Therefore Free always has a cost if not directly then indirectly someone or something must be sacrificed because of your freewill & Choices, but to those that believe in destiny free will does not apply for everything in your life was destine to happen but again there is a cost if not directly then indirectly someone or something must be sacrificed because of your destiny.
I do not believe in Free Will because I would have to believe I am responsible for my fathers sins and on down the line.

Power is the question, how much will-power do you have. In the Biblical sense, wpower is directly proportional to your ego, and inversely proportional to your distance from God.

How you direct that power, has more to do with vision. Again, Biblically, the snake helped open Eve's eyes to a problem; why do we die?

Free Will, in the Religous sense of the word, really only applies to whether you accept your life as it is, or decide to change your life. Those that have eyes to see, are already miles away from the blind acceptance of paradise, and God.

It's a crooked game, but it's the only one in town. You do have a lot of free will, you just don't have that many choices.

Your will is free because throughout your life you were faced with choices whose outcomes were decided only by you. Small choices, huge choices, and life-changing choices. Every one of these decisions shaped you. The choices may be as small as which friend you were going to play with when you were 8 to whether or not you were going to show up at school each day to whether you were going to attend church or sleep in on Sunday mornings.

These decisions may not on their own have an enormous impact, but collectively, they do.

You are a product not only of genetics and environment, but also choice--free will.

I am here because I do NOT have free will! A sperm and an ovum united and 9 months later (Actually 9 months and two weeks, seems I liked it there) I'm here!

btw: I'm not an Atheist, I'm a Deist, and the whole free will and hell just don't mix in my dictionary.
EDIT:
Here's a question of mine I asked a while ago, please take some time in reading it. I think it makes a lot of sense:

I think theists believe you are not the product of your circumstances, genes, or experiences. Philosophically, I'm agnostic with regard to free will. But I do think there must ultimately be some level of determinism.

Genetics and enviornment only shape us to a certain degree. Remember, our soul has lived before. We come with the knowledge of other lifetimes. even if we do not consciously remember. It is our free will when we seek to increase our knowledge through experience, enviornment, and even genetics.

I have missed seeing you.

The only thing free about my will is what I flush down the toilet.

Free will is not free.
Nothing is free in this world.

that's a cop-out for people afraid to take responsibilty for their own behavior...'my environment made me do it...i can't control myself...he/she/it left me no choice,..society's to blame...'...there's an eagles song that goes "victim of this, victim of that, your mama's too thin and your daddy's too fat-GET OVER IT!"
