Most of the dates that have come out of bible study have come and gone without event, so now people are looking to more obsure sources to try to determine the end of the world date. The more things change, the more they stay the same. There's been hundreds of dates and years declared as the end of the world. None ever were or are going to be. The end of our planet will be a billion years from now when our sun blows, but until then, things will keep chugging along.

Don't live your life fearing what might happen, there have always been people who believe that the end of the world is near, as for the Mayan calendar, some believe that there will be an event that will bring about enlightenment and make the world a better place, some people say that it is just the end of that cycle and at that point it all just starts over again, and some people believe that they just stopped at that point for unknown reasons. There are more theories, and that is just what they are, guesses, no one knows, and if you are christian then take comfort in the fact that the bible says no man will know the day or the time, so that would indicate that this date is not the end of the world. Fact is that everyone is going to die one day and you just need to live your life in a way that you have no regrets. I hope that I have eased your mind a little.

I am 58. Over the years there have been several ends of the world that I have lived through. It seems like every few years some group of people feels the need to come up with one of these end of the world scenarios.
They come and they go with out too much happening at all. The doom sayers predict the end is coming and they try their best to build up the tension till finally the big day arrives. Everyone goes to bed that night and the next day the sun comes up, people go to work. Kids go to school, moms hug their kids and life goes on exactly as it always has.
The only thing different is you can't seem to find a single person who will admit that they ever believed a word of it.
Everyone acts like it was someone else who was preaching the gloom and doom.
Don't worry about it.
It's my sons 21 birthday and we are planning on having a big end of the world party for him. We are having it in the afternoon so everyone gets home early so they can get enough sleep. 12/22/2012 is going to be a great day to poke fun at all of the fruitcakes.
Love and blessings Don

Its been around for a really long time, under different guises. Don't forget that there are people out there who just want to scare you. Don't worry about it.
Those who believe in this rubbish usually ALSO believe in ghosts, fairies, Loch Ness Monsters, Ogres (none are true, except for Shrek), and in most cases, they even believe in a God, and a Devil..... if that's the way you want to live your life, then that's up to you. Do you think you would live a better and more fulfilling life if you didn't waste a good part of it, bending your knee, worshipping and praising a fiction?
Just a thought. Get on with your life .....if everything ends in 2012, then so be it - you won't be around to notice it, and no-one else will either, so, in the meantime.......?

creepy yes but the future is never clear so the best bet is to live as if the last day of your life would be today and if it does happen you'll at least know that you tried with all you might to have the greatest life you could. There is no other way to say it then through this cliche live life to the fullest. Always hope for the best but sometimes the best you can get is an age of 23 or in my case i get to be 22(16 now). never let thoughts of the future take over what is happening here and now.

I think it's just hype. It's not real. There have been hundreds of thousands of predictions about the world ending. None has been right. The 'world ending' is best as a metaphor for our own mortality. We are all going to die, someday, but probably not all at once in 2012. I think some changes 'might' happen, but nothing catastrophic and huge.

Its true that the end will come one day. And as far as the time period were living in. We are closer to that day than we ever was.
These things of the Mayan Calender, are believed by those who are sky-watchers. However, lets see what the one who created the shy and all within it, even to the unimaginable reaches of outer space has to say. In Matthew 24:36 Jesus says concerning the signs of time; But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
As stated. It will happened one day. The most important questions is; Are you ready to me your maker?

I think that is a common fear, although it is not my own now, it used to be. We have to remember who is in charge of this universe, our Creator. The answer is at the end of the Holy Bible. The Bible informs us of how we began and how we will end. God is sovereign over this earth and nothing happens without His command and only He knows when the world will end. Jesus Christ, our savior will come back to the earth as our judge. If you accept the gift He has freely given you won't have to worry about the end of the world. You will await the day you will see your savior face to face and to live in heaven one day would be better than 10,000 here on this earth. Read the bible, Revelation describes the end of time. Any other source is untrue.

Don't worry about things that you can't control or be sure about. Superstitious beliefs have no valid purpose. Use your brain. Live a full, decent life, being kind to others, and serving society. You never know when you might die.
There's no reason at all to worry about the Mayan calendar. You don't pray to their gods, do you? Then why waste time worrying about their superstitions? There's no need.

No one can forecast what will happen in the year 2012. Just because the Mayan calendar ends in 2012 does not mean the world will.
On the other hand, get yourself in tune with God and His commandments. Live your life as Jesus Christ would want you to do, and stand in holy places.
Plant your gardens, marry your sweetheart, and raise your children in righteousness. Don't be overly concerned about matters not under your control. Live each day as best you can and the tomorrows will take care of themselves.
