Prayer in the government run schools takes away the parental initiative. Why do some Christians want to abdicate their parental responsibilities and have the schools do the job they should do at home? Why do they want to force it on other parents and kids?

Prayer in school is one of those big snow-job issues. It is never actually about the parent's own child: that child can pray at home all they want. Prayer in school always seems to come down to making things possible for somebody else's child to be initiated into the wonderful world of Christian mythology... Essentially, prayer in school is only an issue because parents want everybody else's child to follow their religion.

I don't know why, but I can only think it has something to do with thinking they are the only ones who are right about the nature of spirituality, and they wish to control others, which isn't very christian of them, is it?
I reckon politics/bureaucracy and religion/spirituality should not be mixed, afterall, look at what the Council of Nicaea did...

Because their lazy and want others to parent their children for them. However, this also applies to other subjectives, like parents acting like the media is suppose to act like a tool for teaching children.

Then there's the issue of wanting to turn America into a theocracy.

It is good to pray in school. It is good to pray at home too.Umm i think at our early age teachers play an important role in our lifes too. When we have good teachers and we like them we will be pleased.

The bible says Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.Its a good thing to pray and teach about bible in school.

read John 3:16 .GOD sent his son JESUS so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and
cleanse ur past with his blood.

With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.
