About one and a half percent of anthropogenic (manmade) global warming is the result of flatulence - mostly from cattle.

Because of the way they digest their food in a complicated process involving four stomachs they produce a lot of farts and burps, can't remember the amount per animal but the total is about one fifth (18%) of all methane gas emissions.

The average human produces 1 to 1.5 litres (2 to 3 pints) of flatulence every day and with 6.5 billion people on the planet that's a lot of farts every day.

If we stopped eating beef we'd cut down on animal emissions but if we started eating lentils and beans instead we'd probably end up producing as much farts as the cows. And because you don't normally get into an elevator with a cow I guess it's better to have the cows farting instead of us humans.

Flatulence recycles old carbon. If you eat beans, you put carbon from the beans into the air. This carbon is absorbed by other bean plants, which in turn creates more beans. So whenever you eat beans, you are recycling farts.
On the other hand, if you drink motor oil and fart, you are putting new carbon into the air, which is bad.
