You have to try your hardest. God can supposidly see whats in your heart so if you are just going to church to give lip service and then go home and sin sin sin without a second thought you might as well not even be a christian.
God does not forgive the falsehearted so your prayers will be ignored.
Really, what is the point of being a christian if you don't really give a care about acting like a christian.
To clarify, everyone sins, but if you are truely sorry for a sin and strive not to do it again then you will be forgiven.

You do not understand what happens when you become a true Christian. It is supernatural. God gives you a new heart, which has totally different appetites than the natural man. You no longer have a desire for things that are evil, those old desires just go away, so it is no struggle at all. When you do sin, it is not the norm, but sometimes the old nature does come back, normally because we fail to stay in a right relationship with God.

To be a christian mean to live ones life similar to that of Christ Jesus. We (humans) are flesh and sinful by nature, therefore not infallable. Being a christian mean making conscious decisions and choices not to take particular courses of action based on biblical principles. To make the right choices and avoid sin requires the presence of the Holy Ghost or Spirit to help us along. Sinners sin, cause it's their nature.
When a sinner becomes a chirsitian they are still going to be engaging in some of the activities they were previously involved with before making that commitment to change.
When babies are growing ,they naturally start to move from one place to the next by crawling, as they get stronger, they begin to take steps often interrupted by several falls (sin), but they persevere even though it may hurt (criticisms of others). Although there is pain caused by sin, they are helped and encouraged by a mother or guardian (fellow christians and the word of God) to persevere and eventually they begin to fall less (sin less) till eventually they can walk on their own (towards sinless living).
Now although the child knows how to walk does not mean it is going to go through life without falling, life will through us some curve balls while on the playground as there are highs and lows and sometimes wrong choices are made.
The thing about being a christian is knowing that after the fall, no matter how terrible, no matter how discbedient, there is still love in open arms to rush into (mother/caregiver), the hand of God. So the anwer to your question is that christians are people/sinners first and foremost and therefore inclined to sin. We all sin! As maturity occurs in the christian walk sin becomes less and less till it is not present. God never promised us that we would not be tempted, so He knows we are going to sin, it was Him who said the flesh was weak. Hence the reason He sent his son to die on the cross for sinners. Jesus did not die for christians but for the sinner.

I think we do a little of both. Let's face it we are human and God knows that. We are not expected to suddenly become a saint who never sins again after we accept Jesus. For the most part we do try to become better over time. We still struggle with sin on a daily basis just like anybody else. I think God will give us or non-Christians credit for trying to be better.

If they are real Christians, then they try not to sin, but we are human so sometimes we have to ask for forgiveness. That's what He died for. For our sins. So he can forgive us for them and then we try to move on and not make that mistake again!
Trust me-this is coming from a Christian!lol
Much love in Christ

We are not perfect, but I do not think any true Christian would set out to sin on purpose, if we deny we are sinners, we are sinning right then and there, because each and every one of do, whether knowingly or not, all we can do is pray and keep God in our hearts and ask for guidance as well as forgiveness.

I try very hard not to sin. But sometimes my mouth speaks before I think. But each night when I say my nightly prayers I ask forgiveness for any sins that I may have committed.

Both. Some try not to sin, and some are under the impression that all they have to do is pray if they sin, so they sin and repent later. True Christians do both. They try hard not to sin, and as soon as they do, they repent by confessing, forsaking (quitting) the sin, making restitution and relying on Christ.

It depends on what denomination. The original Christian Essenes. Don't believe he died on the cross for our sins. They understand he came to teach us how to be saved by not sinning. They have the original New Testament before King Constantine Changed and omitted so many things. (called The Gospel of The Nazirenes) IT was hidden and now available in English (no not anything to do with the Divinci code) this is authentic with historical documentation. Google gospelofthenazirenes.co For sincere seekers of Truth. Yesuah (Jesus) taught Karma, Reincarnation, Vegetarianism and hell no one goes eternally.

Of course we try not to sin. But we are just like everyone else, sometimes temptation can get the better of us, and like everyone else, we are only human. If we sin, we ask for forgiveness. But we have to repent from our sin. And ask in fervent prayer. Bless You
