There is no final word in education. It's a complex beaurocracy run by the taxpayers, Congress, teachers, parents, school boards, and even students. I don't necessarily want schools to be run purely democratically, as far as curriculum goes. If people get together and vote gravity out of the curriculum, gravity will still exist and the books will be wrong.

That would depend.

Are they public or private?

A public school is run by a district. That district is run by a governing board of elected officials. A public college or university is run by a governing board of elected officials.

And they, the governing boards, have to follow the Education Code.

A private school, college or university is a whole other matter.

They are not publicly funded so they don't have to follow the Education Code.

yes, though the final decisions are made by the board of education on a federal level, they use information and votes from the public in order to make changes on an administrative level, such as deans, principles, etc.

school issues are handled by their individual governments (the faculty, the PTA, the principles. etc.) but the way they are dealt with are defined in guidelines set by the board of ed.

NOBODY... and they're running ramped.

Do you realize that our collages and universities are engaged in research that undermines the existence and need for god? They are conducting classes that teach actual knowledge and they are discovering truth... that they are sharing all kinds of honest and real facts with all sorts of people? Do you know that these same institutions of higher learning are allowing foreign students to enroll... that they are allowing all races to participate and that they give financial assistance to the poor, students who would otherwise be left out of their chance to learn - those would probably trust faith alone. And worst of all, are you aware that our publicly funded schools, collages and universities aren't teaching directly and exclusively from the holy scriptures....???

IT"S OUTRAGEOUS....

How will our decent religious organizations ever last if these kinds of broad based learning environments are allowed to continue such practices? Churches will become entirely obsolete...!

GOOD GOSH, it's frightening...! Free-thinking has gone to far this time...!

It's democracy, freedom, reason and logic that's at the cause of all of this....

Ugh. I hate real knowledge. I'm going to home-school my kids forever.

The NEA. And make no mistake about that.

So you and I pay taxes to run all these schools and the NEA dictates what will be taught. The NEA is the most powerful union in our country. They have completely and absolutely taken over our entire school system. And control about 3/4 of our government officials.

i believe the schools are regulated at the state level for the most part. The colleges and universities are usually on their own unless they are a state college or university, in which case they are regulated by the state they are located in.

Yes, the democratic process is much better than some group in power deciding for everyone else.
