I had a flat tire and this nice young man came out in 90 degree afternoon, southern heat and not only offered help but insisted. It is nice to see that there are still gentlemen around. I would like to send him a special thank you because I didn't have any money on me at the time. What would be appropriate? He is roughly between ages 19-25.

I think a gift card is always nice - maybe to a local restaurant or a Blockbuster or to somewhere like Best Buy or Circuit City would be nice. Even if it's only for $10 or something, it's always nice to get gift cards.

It is nice of you to think that there is still gentlemen around, and there still are. what concerns me is where are you going to send him the gift? Is it somebody in your town that you knew already? or he gave you his address so that you will pay him the favor? Real gentlemen not only help people, but they do it without expecting anything in return.and if you think you have to give something from yourself, try to give a hand to someone that may need some help, and if they offer to you some gift, accept from them the promise that they will help somebody else in need. This is the best gift ever

Our newsparer[small-town] has a air your opinion section. It often has thank yous in it for people that helped. It might say, thank you to the young man who stopped Monday afternoon in 90 degree weather to help me change my tire on xxxxx street.
A tire change by a company would have cost you $50, so I would go 20 or twenty five dollars, inside of a nice purchased, or handwritten thank you card. If you dislike the idea of money, go get a gift card for someplace you think he might like, fast food, music store, etc.

This was a very nice gesture.

I would suggest a gift card to a local restaurant or movie house. The young man can take a friend with him and have an enjoyable evening on you.

It is also nice of you to want to reciprocate.

A thank you card and cold hard cash. My brother and his friend once stopped a purse snatcher in front of a Starbucks. The woman was in such shock, she thanked them and, taking her purse, went on her way. She returned a few days later to the Starbucks, hoping to find them (she did) and handed them each a card with cash inside. She was so impressed that 2 young men would go out of their way to help someone they had never met (they had to chase the guy through a strip mall and knock him to the ground to get the purse back). They tried to return the money, but she insisted, and said she would never forget their selflessness.

Food. Maybe a box of cookies or a cake with a nice card. My mom got stuck in mud and half of the security guards pushed her out. She bought them a cake and they seemed very happy.

Get a gift card to a resteraunt or something like that, you don't want to get anything to personal, you don't even know him.

Just to add, when I couldn't get my car started this high school boy stopped in the cold and helped me out, we tried this ladies car and we couldn't get to the battery then he tried his and got it going, he was very nice. I never have seen him again, I don't know who he was.
