You probably couldn't change the actual stereotype but if there is ONE stereotype you wish you could prove wrong.

Mine would be that Christians are ignorant.

That we are all uneducated, homophobic, misogynistic bigots who quake in fear at the sight of a scientific textbook.

Mine would be that we are boring, or that we are close minded. Not all Christians are that way. But some are. Not all atheists are close minded....but some are. It depends on the person, not their religion. I am willing to look at other religions and have an open mind....but the one thing i will not be open about is changing my religion. because God is my savior....and I believe with all of my heart and I'm not gonna let a mean stereotype change that. If an atheist thinks im close minded because of my answer, then let them think about it, but im not leaving God for them. But i will listen to their religion....and I will think upon it. I will not automatically say im right....but i would be willing to let someone show me my mistakes.

I agree. I would change the fact that SOME atheists may view SOME Christians as mindless zombies following an "archaic fairytale". I try not to let it bother me because I am more bothered by the fact that people can witness the miracle of birth and still deny the existence of God :)

Bless you. Grace & Peace.

I agree with you. I am tired of atheists stereotyping all Christians as retarded, ignorant, and uneducated.

A quick look around this Forum would disavow them of that notion. People like Father K, Susan J, and many other Christians are intelligent and well-educated, and they are clearly capable of giving well thought-out answers.

I'll go with the one that all Christians are out to convert people. I could care less whether you believe in the same things as me or not. Christianity is right for me, and I always invite friends to come to church with me or to lean on the Lord when they're going through really tough times, but that's it. If people don't want to accept Christ, that's their business. I hope that everyone will be able to have a relationship with God one day, but it is NOT my job to make that happen.

I guess mine would have to be that we are all brainwashed. Christians are all different people from all different walks of life. Just because we believe a certain way does not make us brainwashed. If that were the case then anybody could say that anyone who believes in something is brainwashed.

That all Christians use hellfire as a scare tactic.

Although many do, I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses and we don't preach the doctrine of an eternally burning hell. And we don't use "scare tactics."

Another big one is that Christianity promotes environmental carelessness.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I hope to live forever on this Earth. Any messes we are making now, we will have to clean up later. That makes me very cautious, personally.

I know you directed the question at Christers, but the problem is that the stereotypes are all true.
How is it that you want to correct the truth?
Every bad impression the atheists have about all the religious types are totally valid!
Just look at the stuff you people post and do.

That we're "religious" and "halleluyahs". That's a lie! We're normal people, just with a different perspective and an entrance to Heaven.
