I have one child who is in 2nd grade. He is all I have in my life and has been since he was born (the man my parents married me off to, was very lustful of women and left the baby and me behind). Being a nun has been my will since I was 15, But my parents kept putting a stop to all of my efforts and would not allow it. I eventually stopped trying to go against them and obeyed because they were my parents. (even though it was very painful to put the desire aside). However, since I do have a small child, God's will is for me to put my son as first priority in my life right now. My advice is for you to focus on raising your children to be Christ-like... now is your chance to do that. God knew you would have these children from the beginning of the world. It is His GIFT to you. Sometimes God guides us to do things that are uncomfortable for us because it brings about a greater good. It is His will that you care for them, inspire them and teach them well. What I plan is that when my son is grown, that I will again aspire to be a nun. But remember this, my sister in Christ... it is not our will, but it is HIS will be done.

Not unless you give up custody of your children, and even then, most orders would not look favorably on you as a candidate because of it. I'm assuming that you're Catholic, as opposed to other religious groups that have nuns such as the Episcopalians.
If you need a spiritual support group, consider joining a group like the third order of St. Francis. They are lay people who take simple vows according to their state of life and follow the Rule that is given to them. That may help to satisfy your needs for community and belonging.
When your children are grown, there are some orders that will accept postulants even into their mid 40's. If you still feel the same way then as you do now, you can look into joining one of those groups.

No.
You cannot become a nun, because you would not be able to care for your children in a convent.
Perhaps when you are 60 or so and the kids are grown, you might want to consider it.

I don't remember all the logistics but I believe when the kids are grown (unless u give somebody else custody) you can become an Orthodox Nun--don't know about Catholic nuns though.

I think you need to take this question to a community of nuns you are attracted to, so they could give you a full answer. My thoughts are that since you have dependent children, your duties first are to them. After they are grown, you are free to join a community. There are some communities that take older women aspiring to the consecrated life.

First you have to be Catholic. They are fairly disparate for nuns these days so I bet they would consider it, but that wouldn't have been the case about 20 years ago.

Nope, but you can become a preacher of sorts and even open your own church, just not a Catholic one recognized as a Catholic church (seeing as a Nun is something of Catholicism.) Good luck.
