even within faith so many christians and those of faith say that "they know." yet christian to christian the tolerances and beliefs are so very different. as people of faith there are things that can definitley be agreed upon. there are things which are critical to faith and belief, but in the minutae the message gets lost through discrepancies which could be great for conversation and debate were they not made cardinal truth by those that profess them.
scripture of all kinds are to be comprehended, why make concrete argument out of the beautiful malleabilty of a collection of poetic truths?
but so many of us allow ego to get in the way when we state that somehow we know, not just the truth, but the "Real truth," the truth those "other christians" don't know.

gnostic, i challenge you to show me the "egotist" residing in this question, where do i say that "I know."
i do not know, many things i do not know. and science can only teach so much as there is a realm of being that, in my opinion, science will never be able to touch. science is a school in the house of god, god contains science, not the other way around. in my opinion.

I'm a Christian, and the older I get, the more I find myself honestly saying, "I don't know." When I was younger, I had a far more dogmatic view of my religion, but I seem to be mellowing. There are certain questions that I don't really have the answers for, or am still researching. There's nothing wrong with "I don't know" as an answer. To suggest that I did, in fact, have all the answers would not only be arrogant, but would be tempting fate to prove me wrong in the worst and most embarrassing possible ways.

Those that claim to know everything there is know or what is the ONLY RIGHT WAY are people of religion...not people with a personal relationship with God and Jesus. Religions are made by man. Neither God nor Jesus ever said that we were to do things in a specific church or in a specific manner. Jesus spoke in ways that all would understand but man just had to step in and make it "his" way or "no" way. As you can tell, I am not a big fan of organized religions. I believe that many do more harm than good in the world.

I as a human, can not even direct my own step
But I have found that all the Scriptures in the Bible are inspired of God and benificial for teaching, so I use the Bible as my sole source for answers to serious questions
Love is the answer

Yes, we can say I don't know, as long as the answer cannot be found in the BIble, or no principle could be recognized to follow. Other then that christians are to be prepared to explain their faith with full confidence.

I have asked muslims maybe 10 questions on here, compared to a few hundred for christians. I was STUNNED the other day when I asked them a question and about half of them said "I don't know."
It made me respect them more and it was a good reminder to me to remember to be humble and just SAY when I didn't know something, rather than speculate.

And what is the Real truth? I guess you alone know and other Christians should shut up because they know nothing. How egoistic is this?
