How is the rental market in Oz? Has anyone looked for a home recently? I'm moving to WA and I wonder how hard a time I'm going to have finding an apartment...

Go to realestate.com.au. This is the property bible. It has properties for rent, sale and share accommodation and gives a good comparison for all states, the only problem is that you'll have to know roughly what area you want to live in,in which case to to whereis.com.au and get a map of the city. Perth is quite expensive, but i hear it's comparable to salary and employment levels, it's quite easy to get a job in Perth.

Perth has recently taken the lead in high real estate prices since the mining boom hit WA, prices for both rental and freehold has skyrocketed in recent months compounded by a fourth interest rate rise in twelve months. For a one bedroom apartment (or flat as old mate above advised) you wont get much change from $400 a week, Perth or country areas! There is always homes to rent but if your budget is tight you may have to consider sharing, or roughing it with the lower end of the socio economic tribes and hillbillies!

and do a search on flats and units over in perth or western australia - this will give you a correct price on rentals available
