find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

The only way to lose weight and keep it off is by changing your lifestyle in a way that you can live with. Dieting doesn't work because it is short term and you deprive yourself so you'd want to binge more.

Exercise and eat right first off. In order to lose 1 pound of fat a week you have to cut 3,500 calories a week. That means either cut your caloric intake by 500 a day, or burn off 500 a day by exercising. To maintain your weight you are supposed to eat 2,000 calories. So stick to a 1,500 plan, if you over eat just know that you are going to have to burn off those excess calories.
Try keeping a daily journal of what you eat and your exercise routine. Also, learn how to substitute. For example, I use soy yogurt as a sub for mayo and sour cream for a lot of recipes. If you are going to have a moment of binge, binge on nutritional dense foods... get something good out of it.

the site has a great meal planner where you can keep track of the foods you eat and it will calculate the calories and nutritional value of your day.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

When generating cookies, bake half the batch and scoop the remaining into ice-cube trays. When the sweet tooth kicks in, pop out one and bake it to meet up with your craving without breaking this calorie bank.
