I think you have to show him that you care deeply for him. Give him some space and allow him to see you for the wonderful person you are. Show him trust, and hopefully he returns it. If not, try to remain friends and consider someone else.

I say don't make the same mistake that some girls do and sleep with him, that will just make a mess. If I were in the same situation as he, I guess the best way for you to get through to him would be to hang around him,not enough to be annoying but often enough to let him know you care. Just act like the dream girlfriend only without the love part and he might fall in love with you. Also you could bring up the fact that maybe you are a good healer for his past relationships. Good Luck to you.

Time will tell. Since october is not that long, especially if he has had trouble in the past. You need to not pressure him and wait for him to move the relationship. If an entire year passes, and the relationship has not improved, then you need to honestly ask him what is wrong. Otherwise just have fun and never stop laughing with him :)

Time heals all wounds. Its obvious this guy still has some wounds and isn't quite ready to move on yet. Be there for him as a good friend, let him know your feelings, but don't push him. Eventually your patience will pay off

by being his friend....He obviously has had others who have said they would be true to him and have betrayed his trust...and so he has his guard up now...so whoever want to get close will have to be true...not say they will be but prove they are...eventually he will care enough about this person that he can accept the possibility of failure...but right now he can't and you really don't want such a relationship to have such negative outlook to start off with...and neither does he...be patient...be a true friend.

Sounds like you've talked to him about it...
However, if he were really interested he wouldn't hesistate. I would suggest that you be friends, be supportive, but don't pin your hopes on this guy being more than just friends, especially if he's told you that already.

The only thing that you can do is be patient and be consistant over time... it is time that will show him... anything else has no meaning.

Um, just tell him, duh!! He won't know unless you tell him. If that doesn't work, make him give you a chance to prove you aren't like his EXs.
