Does this mean, that by default, I have to believe in Bigfoot?
Or is it safe to assume that I am never going to see one?

You do not want to believe in bigfoot because you don't know it is a fraud. Belief in anything without evidence is approaching insanity. Examine all the evidence and then make your judgement but you must be flexible and open minded so that new information is taken into account when it becomes available. Frankly, I am convinced it exists but only because I have examined facts and evidence.

I have good news...this is not a big issue in life...so it is safe to say that whether you see one or you do not see one, it does not have any effect on your eternal destiny.
But to deny God, that is serious. That is why it is very wise to seek the truth.
Oftentimes I see people who tell me that they found sand dollars or shark teeth from the ocean. I am amazed. I have never found one, but I have seen the ones some people have found. It is pretty safe to say that they were looking for them, they had some idea how to go by finding them, they spent time looking for them. I am more like enjoying the day type of beach goer, suntan, swimming, walking by the beach and maybe collecting shells...and I have never so far pumped into a sand dollar or a shark tooth by change.

Carl Sagan was fond of saying, "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof." This can be a useful thing to keep in mind when coming up with your own yardstick for what you believe.
Also, ask yourself, "What need ccould this belief possibly satisfy?" Is it the need for truth? Or something else?
